Hey ladies, I've been on Yaz for a little under a year now and I don't like the way it makes me feel. Can you guys recommend your Birth Control Pill and what kind of side effects you get from it.

Re: Birth Control Question
I was on Yasmin and it was great...controlled acne, and there wasn't any weight change.

I was on Ortho tri cyclen lo for 4 years and had no problems with weight gain. I recently just switched to the nuvaring-I completely forget about it for 3 weeks it's awesome. Still no problem with weight gain.
how long have you been on Nuvaring? I would like to stick to something that doesn't need to be taken everyday. I'm just so scared that i'm gonna keep gaining weight!

I'm on the Ortho Evra patch. No side effects. It's so easy to use, just put on a patch each week and I don't have to worry about taking pills everyday.

I just started it in December. I was a little worried because the hormones are one level unlike ortho lo but I've had no problems. It is really nice to not have to remember to take my pill and I don't stress myself out thinking I could get pregnant if I miss a pill or 2. Another bonus is that its way cheaper than the pill. It was $30 for a 3 month supply where the pill for me was $35 a month.

I was on Yaz and hated it. I was on Yasmin for years, never had a problem...
I posted something on this yesterday. YAZ And i'm still trying to figure out if it's possible that i'm gaining weight from this BC (even tho technically you're not supposed to). What is it that you both don't like about YAZ? Did either of you put on weight or get crazy emotional during that time of the month?? I'm just trying to figure out if I should rightfully blame it on yaz and get off of it asap.

Re: Birth Control Question
I've noticed a gradual weight gain since I started it and I've been eating a better diet and walking but the weight is not coming off... As for the mood swings, I could hurt someone when I PMS. I almost snap. But as for the rest of the month I feel like it makes me depressed/low energy. The worst for me is that I have little sex drive with Yaz! That is the main reason I'm switching. I've been on three different BC pills and none of them did that. I usually switch when I start to have frequent break through bleeding but I have to get off of this one for the reasons above.

thanks for that info. It helps. I started paying less attention to my diet once i got married and put on a bit of weight - but it's nearly impossible to lose it (even with diet & exorcise), which was never normal for me before i was on Yaz. I think I'm just going to finish this month and then take a break. Only time will tell.
Wow - the depression and low energy. I haven't really felt that, but if I did then I'd DEFINITELY switch. Goodness. I hope you find something much better.

Re: Birth Control Question
I am on Lo Ovral and haven't had many side effects to date. The only thing I have noticed is a lower sex drive.

Re: Birth Control Question
I think I'm going to have to go see my OBGYN and say this is all I ask I need a BC pill that does not lower my sex drive Honestly that has to be the worst side effect of a pill especially when your a newlywed. My husband must think I don't love him or am not attracted to him. I feel so bad.

I would think about switching. Mine started as a lower sex drive to now an almost no existant sex drive. Makes you wonder if that's the point of the pill. So I'm taking a pill to prevent me from getting prego but yet I'm not having sex because of the side effects of the pill.
