BLinds or no Blinds on these windows? (added few pix for possible reasons for needing blinds...but not sure)
Original post by Kathy116
I figured, since we're going home-post crazy, I'd get your input!
FI wants to put blinds up on the back windows in the bedroom...I don't want to, because there's no one to look in out there (only the boaters, but whenever I'm on the water I can never see into people's homes because of the reflection of the sun...but possibly at night)
and I don't like the look of blinds.
But, maybe he's right...please tell me what you think?
Blinds on these windows/and doors? We have blinds on the side walls, just not on the back.

Come on over, like susans said...the door is open! What I really should do is plan a 4th of July Party...the most amazing HUGE fireworks are set off on the beach below my home...FI and I sit out back with a couple of coctails and when those fireworks go off, they explode slightly above eye level, is breathtaking. Everytime we say to ourselves...we really need to have a party and share this with others!

What about honeycombs shades? You can put them all the way up during the day, but if you'd like you're privacy you can pull them down.
Does the sunlight bother you/wake you up in the morning when it comes in?

If you don't need the curtains/blinds to give you darkness in the morning light, then I would leave them alone. It sounds like you have enough privacy. BTW, your bedroom looks simply gorgeous!!! I'm jealous!

I don't need total darkness to sleep, it's actually nice to wake up gradually from the sunlight...but many mornings I get up before that sunrise!
I need to go to a blind store/window treatment store.
Any recommendations?

Kathy.
Get the Roman Blinds. I can give you the # where they custom make them . They would be perfect!

Another beautiful option are the silohuettes - which will look very soft on the window when they are down.

I say No blinds. They are gorgeous windows. Maybe a sheer panel

I also vote for no blinds or even sheers. With a view like that, I wouldn't want it blocked. Our backyward faces a wooded area, so none of the windows or doors in the back of our house have anything on them either.

How about Sillouttes from Hunter Douglas. They are stunning and are similar to a blind, but they have a sheer curtain also. I wanted them sooooo badly for my LR but a) they are super expensive and b) my cat. she likes to go in between the blinds and look outside the windows. I was worried she might rip the sheer area with her claws. And if that happens the whole thing is ruined. But they would give you tons of light, but also the privacy of a blind when you need/want it.

THis is why I question if I should have blinds...I just wonder if these people can see in (this is what I usually wake up to outside my bedroom window on the weekends)
Honestly Kathy, look how small those people look to you....unless they are using very high-powered binoculars, they are probably not looking in your windows.

For some reason my camera is not doing a good job of representing these boats...but sometime they get so close I could throw a rock at them!
I'm not by any means of complaining, it's very pretty, but that was just a concern of my FI.
THanks ladies for all your suggestions, I'm going to check out a few window treatment stores and ask about your suggestions!

I showed hubby and he said no blind but the sheer see thru curtains would work wonderfully. You can always add tie backs to hold them back during the day time

Kathy I am LOL at the wayyou described it 'the mother of all boats' The Party Boat
Some kind of sheers if you feel the need for a bit of privacy
