They passed it today, he can run for a 3rd time. I am surprised it passed, and although I objected it before maybe for the current economy its a good thing. Others are going to still try to fight it and overturn the decision.

I have mixed feeling about this subject. I really like Bloomberg and think extending his term would be very good for the city right now. But the thought of abolishing term limits makes me sick, and that the city council can just go against the will of the people (who voted it down twice) to suit their own needs is really messed up.

Im voting for him again and I dont see the problem with the term limits. The people still have to vote him in again so its up to us in the end anyway. He's the best for the job right now. Im a big Bloomberg fan so I guess Im biased

I have no problem with Bloomberg but it makes me feel very uneasy that the people voted FOR term limits TWICE and then it can be overturned in just one council meeting with no public input. I feel like it doesn't reflect a true democracy - it is just for show. Like, let the little people vote for something so they feel powerful and then when we want to change it we will.
That being said, I do think he would be great for the job at this point.

I agree with the other ladies that it should've been up to the people to decide. I saw a little bit of the hearing and one person said that they should've put this option on the ballots on election day and one person made a great point and said 'we should've let the people decide not us, i think we forget who we work for'
BUT like you said, in the end it will be up to us bc people still have to vote for him and if they do then it would be what they want. If not then they just simply won't vote for him.

I think NYC needs him and I feel safe with him....
With all the Spitzer types..... Bloomberg has still managed to do right my me and my needs.....
Term limits 'smurm limits'... in the end.... if people don't want him for mayor he won't be re-elected....... But I think they will

The one thing there was a big problem with this is that the people have voted on this issue twice and both times they voted no to a 3rd term. So thats the only thing that bothers me is that the decision wasnt made by the people but by government, and ignored those votes. ALSO, that Bloomberg was the one against Giuliani extending term limit and fought against it and said it's not right.
