BORED

BORED

Just wanted to say that I am reallllllly sick of being home everyday. But if I go out, I feel guilty that I am not home looking and applying for jobs. Not that there are many out there. I feel like today I should go DO something, but at the same time, I shouldn't.

I am sure that something is going to come your way soon. It is hard being laid off!

Well if you go out, is it something productive? There are only so many jobs that are new each day, so don't feel bad. Are there things you can do in the house, like go through old clothes and donate them or take pics and sell things on ebay? That takes up a lot of time!

Try this blast your resume on monster and hotjobs for about an hour send it to any all all positions you are interested in. Then go out and enjoy the day. Getting out of the house will help you clear your head.

When I go out, it's usually to go shopping Food shopping mainly, which we have cut back on - but I'll go to Marshalls sometimes, etc. Again it's not for A LOT but for a special dinner, etc I'll want to get a new shirt or something - and it just makes me feel like 'Should I spend this???' Even if it's next to nothing. I know it's ok to do that, and good even (to get out, buy something small) - I know I should hole myself up - but it just makes me feel guilty.

When the weather is warm this weekend I am going walking every day.

i know if i have the day off things to do would be - go for a run, clean the house, take a nice long shower and blow out my hair nice, cook - try a new recipe....those things keep you pretty busy and your mind occupied - read a book? im trying to think of all the things you can do that don't cost money but still help you pass the time.....

Maybe it would help if you had a set amount each day that you dedicated to job searching- like 2 hours or whatever & once that was up- you could go out and do what you wanted to do.

Any projects you have half done in the house? Want to paint the bathroom in our house?

Jenn, You totally dont' seem like the sit around and do nothing kind of girl normally (neither am I) and I know when I was laid off for 3 months (twice) I felt the same way.

There are only so many jobs out there, so I think if you dedicated a certain amount of time each day to looking then went to the gym, do whatever you want to do after, you shouldn't feel guilty.

Good luck! I hope you find something very soon.
While I complain about working everyday, in my heart, I know I wouldn't be good at staying home everyday. I'm just not good with too much time on my hands, i'm actually less productive when I have too much time.

I kinda don't have any motivation either. I have laundry piling up to the ceiling and my living room is a mess with all sorts of papers, etc. (It was clean 3 days ago, I don't know how it happens!) But I do need to do the laundry today, so soon I will be doing that ....

UGH I need a routine again!

See that's my problem. That's what I meant when i said I'm not good with too much time. The more time I have, the more I take. It's so strange but when I was working 2 jobs and only had 2 nights off a week and one weekend day, I got everything done all the time, BUT when I only had one fulltime job, my chores took forever to get done b/c I kept saying tomorrow night I'll do that. When I was laid off, I'd sit on the couch at night and say 'ok, tomorrow I'm doing this and this and this' and tomorrow came and I sat on the computer, watched TV, drank my coffee, and before I knew it, my same list was still not done that night. Crazy.

Jenn...I know how you feel...I felt the same way when I was home.

Definiteyl dedicate time to search for a job. I used to do it from 10am-11:30am everyday and then I would go to the gym, some back make myself lunch, then I would try to either get out and visit a friend or my parents or even just cook new things I hadn't made before.

It gets itrritating being a home but I'm sure you will find something soon
