Bridal Gown Preservation Box - How do i know it's in there?

I finally got my bridal gown from the cleaners and they don't speak much english so i really didn't know how to ask this, but they put it in a preservation box and i can't see if my dress is actually in there.

how would i know it's in there? It's completely boxed, but there are these cut outs that appear to look like handles perforated on one side, then plastic shrink like material all around the box.

um, how do i know it's clean and how do i know it's my dress?

Good question. I actually just got mine back today too. The place that did mine has it inside a box but the front is open so you can see the entire top of my dress. Then it is sealed in there with the plastic stuff and then that entire box goes inside another box.

Guess you'll just have to assume and trust that they did their job.

i wonder if there's another box inside this gigantic box. my dress ain't THAT big. it's like 3 feet tall & 2 feet wide.

Most preservation boxes are that big b/c they put a body cast inside the body of your dress so it keeps its shape, etc.
I am scared to get my dress done for this exact reason....I would hate to open it up in years to come and find out its not my dress

Mine has a big window in the front of the box so I can see the whole top of my dress....but damn is that box huge!

same here, you can see the whole top of the dress, my veil and garters and they told me that my shoes are in the back. And yes, the box is HUGE!

oh no...

did these boxes with the windows...did they come in a much bigger box? i wonder if the box i see is all there is. it does look that way since the shrink wrap is outside this huge arse box.

That is exactly the reason i did not preserve my dress ! (well one of them anyway) I never thought about it and my customer was joking about is wife's dress and how she has no idea if it's in there..it sits in their closet and someday they could open it and not find the dress! lol That would be awful! I am sure it's in there, but honestly I wanted to enjoy my dress. and allow my kids to enjoy it. When i was little i loved looking at my moms dress and if its in a box how can that happen? especially one where you can't see it, and once it's open, then it's not preserved anymore...

Yea mine came in a big box but I looked at it before she put it in the box. Now could she have switched it yes? But I highly doubt it. Take a peek in the box just make sure you seal it correctly.

I don't plan on keeping it in the box forever, just until we have a kid and if that doesn't happen anytime in the next five years I may make something with the dress.

Well the shrinkwrapped box might be the outside box to the box that has the clear front that you can see through. I would open it. I had a nightmare a few weeks back about preserving my dress. I found out that it needs to be in acid free box and it needs to breathe. So air should get in. HTH

I brought mine to my cleaners that I always use and they use a company called Prestige Preservation. Prestige Preservations

The box on the first page is exactly what mine looks like.

i agree-i have a feeling there is a box inside the box...
can you ask them? ask them if there are 2 boxes...

i preserved my dress and it has a window so that i can see it.
it did arrive inside of another box...

i can see my dress now & oooo how i still love it.

phew.

so now i'm wondering whether i should leave it doubled boxed- and that blue plastic, can it come off? cuz i might just put the box on display over my wedding day shrine in my living room.

I think the reason for the double boxes is so that the plastic doesn't get punctured on accident. I guess if it is going to be out of people's reach then you could leave it outside of the other box.

I opened my box as well, it was a box and inside the view box but my dress is wrapped in a blue bag so I am pretty sure I shouldn't open the blue bag so I put it back in the big box until I make baby stuff out of it or I make something else out of it.

I opened my box as well, it was a box and inside the view box but my dress is wrapped in a blue bag so I am pretty sure I shouldn't open the blue bag so I put it back in the big box until I make baby stuff out of it or I make something else out of it.

my blue bag had a hole in it, and i'm not sure if it was while i was opening it, a piece of tape got stuck to it and i think ripped it. it looks far from air tight, but i could almost feel the top of the box the dress is actually in coming off. like it's just a top of a garment box. i dont get it. how is it preserved?

I brought it to my salon back at Easter to have it cleaned and preserved, as they offer it as a service. I have yet to get it back, and they claim it is on its way from Missouri still. I'm *this* close to calling BBB and threatening small claims court.
