What is all the hooplah around the 'grand entrance' into the reception? I feel like people think that if your guests see you during the CH then when you walk into the reception (which lasts for all of 10 seconds anyway) it will be ruined and not good b/c people saw you already.....when most likely they already saw you during your ceremony so you really aren't a 'surprise' KWIM?
We attended our cocktail hour and when we walked into the CH everyone started clapping and yelling for us - it was like the room stopped for us - and then when we had our 'grand entrance' into the reception everyone was pretty pumped - so we got to have two 'entrance' moments....nothing was ruined b/c people saw us.....
I just don't see the point of hiding in the bridal suite for 1 hour If you are taking pictures that is different - but if you have the time to go to your CH why wouldn't you?
What are you thoughts? Do you think the entrance is ruined when the bride and groom attend the CH?

Re: CH Question
I personally didn't go to my CH, but for most of it we were taking pictures. I wish I would have gone though, it was outside and I only got a glimpse through a window and a few pictures our DJ took. I spent a lot of time at the first half of the wedding reception greeting guests and looking back I wish I could have attended the CH because it would have given us more time to be on the dance floor during the reception. I can see why the bride and groom could think it would ruin the 'surprise' element, but it's not like when you enter the reception, they won't clap or anything because they already saw you at the CH-KWIM?

Re: CH Question
I guess it's a matter of what you prefer. I knew from day one that I wanted to be at my CH. A 'grand' entrance wasn't important to me - it was just a few minutes out of a spectacular day.
I do agree that many of the things we stressed over prior to our wedding, now seem insignificant and not important.

Re: CH Question
Nicole I totally agree. We did the same thing...it was like 3 grand entrances church, CH, reception....dont see the big deal. I WANTED to see my CH I would have been PO'ed if I missed seeing it it was GORGEOUS and after paying all the $$$ I was sure as hell not missing it!

Re: CH Question
we went to CH and had a great entrance too i think it was fine and we just kinda started to mingle in CH and came in a side entrance so i dont think everyone saw us like at the grand entrance...
but i loved having CH to start to greet each guest
