changing name on credit cards *Updated* anyone have a # to call? UGH

OK- this will be my last name change question~ promise!!

I changed my name at DMV and my bank- easy...
then I called my CC to change my name there and they need me to photocopy my marriage license, type up a letter asking for a name change, ask for a new CC and all this stuff in the typed up letter, and mail it all in- does this sound a little extreme? I am just so used to the posts from girls saying that they just called up and did it over the phone, and now I have this process and a half to deal with. Just wanted to see if this lady was just giving me a hard time- or if this is something new?
It's a mastercard btw...


ETA~~~ W T F!!! I just tried calling AGAIN and they gave me the same BS! I called 1-800-mastercard

Does anyone have a different # to change your mastercard? What a pain!!!!!!!

First time I've heard that! All my credit cards told me just to call them up and tell them my new name and voila! I called to change my address after we got married and specifically asked about what do I do when I change my name and that's what they told me!

I have to do this for 2 of my credit cards. It was store ones. The rest I just did over the phone and was easy. I have no clue why they ask for all that stuff and i still haven't changed my name on them because I thought it was a hassle. i might do it soon though just to get it over with.

I did mine over the phone. I didn't have to send any documents to change my name on any credit card. It was actually the easiest thing to change. I would call them back and check again. Maybe you will get someone else on the phone that can do it. GL!

I was able to do all of my credit cards over the phone.

i havent heard that b4, my major cc like capital one and discover, i just called and they did it over the phone, the only place that gave me a hard time about changing my name was comcast

Which Mastercard is it? I was able to change my Visa and Mastercard over the phone. It was AMEX and a dept store card that I had the send a copy in for.

It's a sperry mastercard.... which # did you call to change it? I called a million times so far hoping that I would get someone nice LOL I keep trying 1-800-mastercard
