Changing name SS office..UPDATE

Do I need to bring my passport to the social security office?? TIA
Ummmm yeah so I sat there for 2.5 hrs to learn that the FLushing office doesnt change names only the Jamaica office GRRRRRRRRRRRR

I only had to show the marriage certificate, nothing else even though I brought it.

To be safe, if you have it bring it b/c you never know.

I brought everything to play it safe, but I think the only thing she looked at was the marriage certificate.

That should be enough. This was the first thing I did too, so I didn't have anything else with my married name on it yet.

i also brought the form filled out and ready to go- it made everything very easy.

I went yesterday to the office in Mineola, but You CAN NOT GO TO THAT OFFICE is you are a Brooklyn or Queens resident. Although my parents is 'Queens' they have a LI zip code so I didn't have any problems.
I only needed the form that you have to fill out and marriage certificate. I got there around 8:30 am and was out by 9:20.

I know I'm @ the flushing office since 11 and I still have a long wait I'm guessing mineola isn't as bad? At least I have my cell w internet lol
