Charged outrageous amount for clean-up at the RH
Let me explain, we had a drunk friend who was passing out at the wedding so I told him to go lay down in the bridal suite. Apparently (I didn't see it) he threw up on the couch. So they charged us $1000 for clean-up.I totally understand that we are responsible for paying to clean up, but doesn't $1000 seem ridiculous!?!??!?!?
I emailed the hall today to ask why it is so much money, but I have not heard back.
Just wondering if anyone else was hit with a charge like this?

Seems unreasonable. They could get a new couch for that amount. Was there anything specified in your contract?

I'll have to check the contract...I bet you're right, that's probably in there as the minimum amount we agreed to pay in case of damages. UGH!

try to negotiate. This might sound evil and horrid, but I'd let the guest know about this. I wouldn't necessarily tell him to give you the money, but I'd definitely let him know about this.
If I were the drunk guest, I'd be following up with the B&G to find out if I owed any money as a result of *my* drunkeness.

I would also ask to see the cleaning invoice.

Exactly! An accident I could tolerate, but not irresponsibility.
Did you happen to have wedding insurance? Maybe that would pay out?

steam cleaning companies are like less than $50 for a sofa... and extra stain treatment is still under 100.

I know it was 6 yrs ago, but I hired a company who sent 2 guys over to my place to steam clean 2 couches that I bought (they were floor samples).

they were at my place for at least 1/2 an hour. they did an AMAZING job - the couches looked brand spanking new. it cost me $200 + tip. I find it very hard to believe that it cost them $1000.
I would absolutely ask to see the bill

I would call some local cleaners up and get a quote from them, then show your RH.I am not sure how they will give you a quote without seeing it, but its a good try.
Sorry , this happened...I hope everything works out.

If it's in your contract for damages and the magic number is $1000 the only thing you can try to do is negotiate.I would not ask my guest to fork over any money. If I had a guest in my home break something I wouldn't ask them to pay for it.

Re: Charged outrageous amount for clean-up at the RH
Im not sure of the exact prices but professional cleaners charge an absolute fortuene to clean up anything that is a bodily fluid like vomit, blood, etc.. Particularily if its on upolstery, it might actually have cost them $1000!I would definitely try to negotiate. Im sure they would be happier to receive a fair amount from you than have to takeyou to court.
