OK this IS alarming! I live in a good neighborhood in queens, and low and behold there is a 39 year old man who lives DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET from me who was convicted of Attempted Rape in the 1st Degree. woah.

A bunch in my neighborhood...not really surprised though, as we don't live in that great of an area.

Most importantly though...you have to be careful and aware of your surroundings no matter WHAT this site tells you.

There are going to be offenders no matter where you live. Just remember the facts.......most crimes are committed against people the offender knows.........few offender/victim relationships are random.

Also, some of these offenses are made out to be more than they are. Did you know that sodomy could be as simple as having sex in any other position besides missionary? So I'm inclined to bet that most of us are guilty of sodomy, we just haven't been caught

Finally, a lot of sex offenders are there for simply looking at porn on the computer.......never acting upon anything. Just got caught from their IP addresses. Is it a felony? Yes. Did they REALLY do anything wrong? Not necessarily.

it doesnt seem very accurate- dont the police have their own site? i remember getting a printout from the precinct where i work a few years back- it was like 30 pages long. This map only shows like 4 guys.

Yeah the more I look at this ... it seems to be pretty bizarre--- as Ang said - there are ones that live in the WATER! so who knows how accurate it is.

But even tho bloomberg says the streets are safe for women ALWAYS BE AWARE of your surroundings! Rape in the first degree is different from the guy sitting at home looking at kiddie porn.

so hide your kids hide your wife lol.
