Cherry Blossom Festival...Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

Has anyone ever been to this at Brooklyn Botanical Gardens? I've always wanted to go there, and heard they do nice weddings too. It's next weekend, and only $5 admission for the whole day and I'm looking for things for DH and I to do. I thought I'd see if anyone is been there to see if it's worth driving there.

Re: Cherry Blossom Festival...Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

I've never been to it, but I hear it is nice. Plus, it is a nice day out since Prospect Park is right there and also the Brooklyn Museum. They do weddings there which I hear are beautiful, but there is a $10,000 site fee on top of everything. If you are going next weekend, go early; I hear it gets pretty crowded.

Re: Cherry Blossom Festival...Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

Ive only been to the botanic gardens a few times but its very nice. I live on the other side of the park.

I dont think its an entire days worth of activitiy but its still fun for an hour or so.

Parking is tough there so you will probably have to pay for it.

The Brooklyn Musuem is right next door and the park is there as well. The huge main Brooklyn public libary is on the other side. You can go to the zoo and the carosel in the park if you feel like a walk. There is usually a farmers market on the weekends in Grand Army Plaza nearby.

Bring your camera :D

Re: Cherry Blossom Festival...Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

Thanks! I didn't realize there was so much to do around there. From what I see on the website, it is a full day's event (actually 2 days), but I doubt that we'll stay for more than a couple of hours. There a lot of Japanese cultural events scheduled like art, music and dance performances, and Japanese food!

Re: Cherry Blossom Festival...Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

Oh, I almost forgot about the Cherry Festival! Thanks for posting the link!!

Yes-go! The botanical gardens are beautiful, and with the cherry trees in bloom, it's breathtaking. When the wind blows through the trees, the flowers fall and it's like it's snowing.

If your DH is like mine, he won't want to stay all day, but like someone above mentioned, there's lots to do in the immediate area. The zoo is across Eastern Pkwy from the gardens, small but nice. Go see before Bloomberg's budget closes it

The museum is worth a visit also. There's a great ancient Egyptian gallery there.

Have fun!

My DH and I went this past Sunday to the Sakura Matsuri. It was very nice, very crowded, good weather and terrible food. I love cherry blossom trees, they're so beautiful.

Re: Cherry Blossom Festival...Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

I went too! It was way too crowded though, there were lines for everything! And, being preggo, I think I was on my feet a bit too much. It was beautiful though, and cheap, only $5 to get in. I plan to go back in the summer when more flowers and stuff are in bloom. The cherry blossoms were really nice!

Re: Cherry Blossom Festival...Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

It's really worth it. I live near the park, and it's beautiful. They do really lovely evening weddings. You have the whole park to yourself and you can have cocktails out by the lily pad ponds!
