Re: Christmas party

hot spinach & artichoke dip always goes over well at our parties- trader joes sells a pre-made one and when I am lazy, I just mix in some mozz and heat it and serve- very easy

We bought pigs in a blanket at Costco before and they just have to be heated in the oven - they were really good and a perfect appetizer. We've also bought the little mini spinach puffs there and those went over well too. Easy to make and tastes good.

Yelley, I got a fondue pot at my shower LAST YEAR and have yet to use it. Can I just buy any chocolate to melt in it? Someone told me I had to buy some specific chocolate and I never found it, so I haven't used it yet!!!

aww dont feel like a loser- its a busy time of year- and besides some of the best parties that I have been to, have been small groups- you get to talk to everyone and they're more intimate- you will have fun!

Re: Christmas party

We had our party last weekend and we got some great stuff from trader joes: corn and chile salsa, goat cheese with honey and frozen parmesean flatbread. I also made choconut chicken (which was really easy) and pigs in a blanket and then we bought a bunch of frozen appetisers at Stop and Shop which were pretty cheap, at the time2 for $5. I made a trifle for dessert and we had a tiramisu but that was barely touched, it was so much food. Kraft.com has a lot of ideas for easy recipes too. Good luck!

Oooh, sliders would be an awesome idea! I didn't realize they sold them pre-made otherwise I would have suggested this!

Re: Christmas party

what about making pepperoni and cheese bread, we call them strombolis w/o the sauce.

we make all different kinds of them some with ham and cheese, or a cheese steak one, or once with roasted repppers and stuff .

and there pretty easy

Re: Christmas party

I'm interested in knowing what kind of chocolate we can use in the fondue pots! I have an old style one, I think it was DH's parents' pot from back in the day - we haven't used it too much yet but I'd love to use it for more than just cheese!

Well hopefully I can find black vodka for this:

Slippery Santa
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Blavod Black Vodka
- 1/2 oz oz Cinnamon schnapps
- Whipped cream
- Garnish: Maraschino cherry

Pour vodka and cinnamon schnapps in a shot glass and top with whipped cream and garnish with a maraschino cherry (or a red hot candy).

And also pomegranite champagne and :

Glacer-tini

Ice cubes
1 part vanilla liqueur (recommended: Liqueur 43)
2 parts blue-colored tropical fruit liqueur (recommended: Hpnotiq)
Lemon-lime soda
1 rock candy swizzle stick

In a glass pitcher or cocktail shaker filled with ice, add vanilla liqueur, tropical fruit liqueur, and top with lemon-lime soda.
Stir and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a clear rock candy swizzle stick and serve.
Serves 1.

It's super easy. You can look up all sorts of fondue dessert recipes (if you are looking for something other than chocolate, or a variation of chocolate)

here is one similar to the one I use:

Extraordinary (and Simple) Chocolate Fondue Recipe
Recipe Summary - Extraordinary (and Simple) Chocolate Fondue Recipe
Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients - Extraordinary (and Simple) Chocolate Fondue Recipe
16 ounces dark, sweet or semi-sweet chocolate
1 1/2 cups light cream
1 tsp. Vanilla extract

Instructions - Extraordinary (and Simple) Chocolate Fondue Recipe

1. Break chocolate squares into smaller pieces and drop them into the fondue pot.

2. Add cream (which will prevent the chocolate from going lumpy) and stir gently but constantly until the chocolate is melted and smooth.

3. Add vanilla extract, and stir it in.

4. Use a fondue fork to spear the fruit, then dip it in the chocolate. Enjoy!

For some other variations on a basic chocolate fondue recipe, add:
- some chopped nuts: pecans, almonds, walnuts, and hazelnuts all work well.
- a tablespoon of instant coffee granules or cappuccino
- your favorite syrup flavor

make coquito, it's SO good. I just found a recipe on line... i need to ask my MIL if she has a good one.
coco lopez is what we used to use for coconut cream

COQUITO (PUERTO RICAN TRADITION)

1 can (13.5 oz) coconut milk
1 can (13.5oz) coconut cream
1 can (12oz) evaporated milk
1 bottle (10 oz) white rum (recommended Bacardi or Don Q)
½ tsp cinnamon

Mix the ingredients in the blender. When finished put in a large glass decanter. Refrigerate and serve cold.
