Cinque Terre or Amalfi Coast?

DH and I are going to Italy in September for our 1 yr. anniversary (better late than never, right? ). We would like to go to Cinque Terre and/or Amalfi Coast.

Has anyone been to either? Any advice/suggestions/opinions? Let me know. thx

wow you are a girl after my own heart! i wanted to do CT for our honeymoon and it logistically did not make sense (not enough time, very hilly, lots of luggage, etc.). I went to the amalfi coast in 2000 with one of my best friends and it is AMAZING. totally beautiful and definitely a great trip to do with your DH. If you want more info FM me and I'll give you some more details.

minibride (08 bride) got married in May and went to CT on her HM. If you go that route you should FM her for info.

The are very similar just one is in the north and the other the south...The weather in italy in september is like it is here.. last year it was still warm for them in sept (have lots of family there)

If you choose CT - I would stay in Monterosso or Vernazza..Those were our favorites of the five towns.. theres lots of restaurants in Monterosso and vernazza is very romantic.. great sunsets.. only downside is there are a lot of steps but that is what makes this place so different and fun.DH proposed in Vernazza - so little biased to that town..

You can hike along the cliffs to each town - rick steves or frommers is a good reference for info on that.. you go thru olive trees , vineyards and the towns..

Now the amalfi coast.. I would stay in positano.. my favorite of the towns along there.. Sorrento is nice as well and has more to do.. Amalfi is beautiful as well but the most $$.. again you can take day trips to see the other towns.. nothing is really far there..

Cinque Terre is one of the best places I have ever been too and I have done a lot of taveling!! Oh, I want to go back so bad!

Thanks everyone! I've heard such great things about both locations and I'm so bad at making a decision.

Amalfi Coast was absolutely beautiful.
We stayed at the Hotel Catalina.
