Coming off of BCP question...

Coming off of BCP question...

I was on Loestrin 24FE for a few years and I loved it. I wanted to come off of it a while before we even start trying and so I stopped in December. I got my period on a regular 28 day cycle in January, then a 32 day cycle in February and now it's day 34 and I'm like umm hello where are you? I know I'm not pregnant (I got nervous and took a test). Why are my cycles getting longer instead of shorter? Did this happen to anyone else?

My cycles are almost 8 weeks apart. I asked my sis (who is an OBGYN) and she said some women just have longer cycles and not to worry about it. Your body is probably just regulating itself!

This suuuuuuuuuuucks! I want to know when I'm ovulating as practice for when I'm actually trying to get pregnant and I ovulated when I should have for this month. I was always super regular before I was on BCP.

You should use Ovulation Predictor Kits or start Temping to see when you are ovulating. The only way to actually *know* is through blood tests and a sonogram.

I went off the pill 2 years ago and I'm still not on a regular cycle. But after a few ridiculous cycles (80 days... 50 days... etc) I'm finally on a 32-34 day cycle. I think that whole 28-day thing is an elusive myth...

It usually takes a few cycles to regulate. My first cycle off was a 28 day, then 32, then 34. The last 3 months have consistently been 32.

Get the book taking charge of your fertility. If you want to know when your ovulating you can monitor the signs/temp. It is a great way to get to know your cycles. Btw it is totally normal to have wacky cycles for up to a year after coming off birth control.

I bought What to Expect Before You're Expecting and was afraid to eat/drink/move for a while after reading that!

To be honest. I went off the pill in Dec. after being on it for 10 years My skin went crazy and I have the worst, worst cramps ever on day 1 and day 2. I feel like I am 15 again. I use to tell my HS girls that they couldn't be in that much pain, and now I am doubled over in pain on day 1 and 2. lol.

And to the OP your body is probably still adjusting. I have had pretty regular 30/31 day cycles since going off however I am sure as soon as we start TTC my cycles will go psycho. But hang in there your body is just adjusting.

I went off Loestine also in this past October and I'm having the totally opposite problem, I'm getting my period allllllllllll the time, 2x a month!! It's been a nightmare. I never have more then 8-10 days without it. I have an appointment next week for blood work and whatever else the gyno wants to test for. Seriously I'm so scared I'll never get pregnant with this going on.

Re: Coming off of BCP question...

When I first stopped taking the pill my cycles were fairly normal but over time they have become shorter around 25 days some months a bit less. I had problems with the length of my cycles that is why I went on the pill in the first place my cycle was very short.
