I had heard of some of these companies were having trouble. So the President, thinks those little checks he is sending is to, stir up the economy, Ha! With gas prices up the wahzoo, people can't go and buy anything. And those little checks, most people are going to pay their credit cards, camps or even use for gas to get to work and back. Also, the companies have to pay for gas, (diesel! at that) to get the products to the consumers, who can't afford to go to start to get them! The 10% that are wealthy, can not run the trucks, businesses, school buses, restaurants or anything that requires gas and money to continue the movement of cities, towns etc. The basics is what the majority are looking at. Selling, buying is the natural way of moving and living for each other. So each of us can live and enjoy life. ....Sorry for the 'going on'.... This President has put this youngest and powerful nation on its knees and now has to, needs to get up to regroup, repair, relearn for it's own survival and love of its people and country.
I haven't heard anything about BBB so i hope it is just a rumor. I heard of the others especially Circuit City. My sis works for them and they closed the commack store - no warning at all. Just gathered employess at a meeting after work and said this store is closed effective immediately. Now my sis is looking out of retail becasue she fears the other stores will follow without notice.

I got this in an email
I can't believe BBB would go bankrupt though...
DO you know the validity of this?
Someone added BBB to the list ... that one I don't think is true.
The rest might be though ...

Re: Companies going bankrupt?
I had heard about this with Sharper Image, and at first they weren't accepting gift cards at all. Now I heard they changed that and they are taking them, but there are certain conditions that apply - I want to say you had to spend a certain amount to use it, but I might be wrong.

I didnt mean to be the bearer of bad news. I got it in an email a little while ago and thought you ladies may find it to be useful informtion, as long as it was true. I passed it on to some friends and family eps friends I know who are getting married and have registries or gift cards.

Re: Companies going bankrupt?
They are all just filing for reorganization of debt, not that they are closing down completely. There are two types of bankruptcies.
Caroline, Fortunoff is still taking their gift cards. I went shopping a few weeks ago, and while the shelves are kind of empty, you can still use the card.

thank you for posting it though! it's good to know especially if you have gift cards for one of those stores, you don't want to sit on them and then have a 'sharper image' situation happen!
