SOOO CONGRATULATIONS ON QUITTING SMOKING!! That sure is a feat!!!
I'm trying to get John to quit. last night I told him... he has until i get pregnant again to quit.. or I'm going to tell his parents on him... haha! i just need other people to nag him to quit... and his mom sure is good at that!! I know he has to do it when he is ready, and he says he wants to quit... but he just isn't at the point where he has enough will power built up for it.
The first time I quit smoking was the hardest. I quit for 9 months because I had an ex who nagged me to do it.
The second time I quit smoking (about 5 years later) I just stopped cold turkey. The second time was waaaaaay easier. I think it's because I did it for ME - not for someone else. I wanted to stop and I did and haven't had a cigarette since. That was almost 4 years ago. I had smoked since I was 15 (so 22 years of it). John will do it when he's ready to do it. The fear of quitting was actually worse than quitting.
Yea I hear ya!! He quit and used the patch. he was dong really good... for 5 days!!!!!!!!!! Then Allegra and Mike's wedding came along... and he started again 'just for the wedding'... fast forward to like 9 months later.... and WOW that's a long night!!! he's still smoking!!! I can't wait for him to quit for good.
that's a long time of smoking. My mother will never ever quit. she would probably still smoke even if she had some bad diagnosis from smoking. it's sooo gross. She's gross.
Both my IL's smoke - like effin chimneys - & the worst part of all of it is that FIL has gone through prostate cancer - & beat it - but then his PSA levels were going through the roof at the time of our wedding - went back on lupron injections & got his PSA down (but still refuses to quit smoking - says the smoking has NOTHING to do with the cancer
Not to mention MIL has been suffering from supposed 'seasonal cluster headaches' - Im not saying she's not suffering from the headaches - but also again - smokes 1 -1 1/2 packs a day & refuses to quit & of course dum-dum FIL says her smoking has NOTHING to do w/ her headaches
Some people when they get older are just SO set in their ways....they just dont get the fact that we'd like them to live long enough to see us have children (God-willing). But they are very selfish & stubborn.
The other things that $ucks about the amt they smoke is that when we come to visit them - they arent the least bit considerate for DH & I b/c we dont smoke. (Esp FIL) will blow smoke sometimes right in our faces (not intentionally) but he just doesnt care - they will smoke like chimneys in front of us & we get so ill
