Craft Corner: Has anyone done an engagement to wedding scrapbook?

I have a lot of 'stuff' that I would like to put together in a scrapbook - things like photos of the day we got engaged, photos of my shower, fabric scraps, the note from the president, our photo in the times, stuff like that...
so Im wondering if anyone has ever done anything like that before.

Im thinking of using a book like this:

Kolo Newport Album

and mimicking real scrapbook layouts in Photoshop on my PC with words and photos and spaces to glue fabric and cards to using this ink jet refill paper:

Inkjet Refills

So far I can do pages about:
- Day we got engaged
- Bridal Shower
- Bridesmaid Luncheon
- Finding 'the' dress
- Wedding Day

So I need some suggestions help on the following:

a) What else can I include? I'd like to make the book sort of like a journey from engagement to honeymoon but Im not sure what else I can put in there.

b) I need some elegant layouts I can use as inspiration, so please post if you have done one or have seen one.

Yep! After figuring out that the traditional book is just way too large and heavy for me to keep laying around that it would have to be stored in the basement, and I did not want to bother on something I was going to have to keep in the basement - I got Mark to agree to work on a digital album with me. I like them a lot better but its a lot more work but whatever - i waited this long, whats another few weeks.

so are you skipping the engagement part?

are you going to do only one big one now?
will you include you engagement photos in your wedding album?

Stef: We are in the process of having our digital album made.

We waited a long time before we met with our photographer to pick out our album so its not going to be ready for a few more months. I love all the different layouts they can do with the digital albums.

Not skipping the engagement one...im doing that one myself on a much less grand scale. I really need to do that so I can store all my engagement momentos in one place. My wedding album will just be wedding photos.

Margaret: Which digital album company did your photographer use? Do you have photos of the layouts? I'd love to see!

Stef - Our photographer (Sherwood Triart) does the album themselves. Unfortunatley, I won't have it back for a few more months. We waited so long to go and when we did go they told us it takes them 8 months to put it together because the designer does it there.

I'll be happy to share it when it done.

Did you get to see the layouts before they sent it out or does the company do the layouts without your input?

They do the layout without our input. The only thing we did tell them is the type of colors to use for boarders and graphics. I wanted only earth tones used.

My digital album is almost in, I have to wait till my parents fly down with it in May to Pensacola! I will post pics when I get it!

They are amazing though, and we got about 200 pictures in it that way!

Yes, I did the Masterpiece collection and have actually been in discussion with one of the Presidents of the company because I really need my album to be with my parents when they come down to pensacola.. since my husband and I will be moving to either Oklahoma or Corpus for the next year this summer and I REALLY CAN'T IMAGINE IT BEIND MAILED!!! AHH!

So, I flew up in Feb to see my prrofs and pick layouts and colors and about a week or so ago my mother meet with my photographer to ok, the digital proofs, small proofs of what our pages will look like (it kinda ****es me off that I have to do this, but luckily we have the same taste and her and I spent hours going over what I loved and hated.

So, now they are being sent back to the company and will be binded in the next few weeks.

Did Mark take extra shots for the digital layout that will help you out though... our guy did, he got shots of our reception before people entered and things like that too help out the process and was wondering how that will work with your shots since Mark took more Artsy kind.

I should have mind by this time next month and I am very excitied.

Did your photographer use templates for the layouts or was each page custom?

My photographers (Mark's studio but not Mark himself) didnt take photos with a digital album in mind but I have over 1500 photos so there is no shortage of photos for me to use. If anything, I have too many :D

That last one is pretty difficult. The designer of that one had to cut out the head and letter exactly right, then tint the whole thing to a natural color, then create that title and the background without overpowering the photos...so that one is pretty complicated. But most of the ones on this thread are really straightforward.
