Craft Corner: Has anyone done an engagement to wedding scrapbook?

Original post by Sonicstef

I have a lot of 'stuff' that I would like to put together in a scrapbook - things like photos of the day we got engaged, photos of my shower, fabric scraps, the note from the president, our photo in the times, stuff like that...
so Im wondering if anyone has ever done anything like that before.

Im thinking of using a book like this:

Kolo Newport Album

and mimicking real scrapbook layouts in Photoshop on my PC with words and photos and spaces to glue fabric and cards to using this ink jet refill paper:

Inkjet Refills

So far I can do pages about:
- Day we got engaged
- Bridal Shower
- Bridesmaid Luncheon
- Finding 'the' dress
- Wedding Day

So I need some suggestions help on the following:

a) What else can I include? I'd like to make the book sort of like a journey from engagement to honeymoon but Im not sure what else I can put in there.

b) I need some elegant layouts I can use as inspiration, so please post if you have done one or have seen one.

Question for Stef/Susan and others:

If you plan on saving these pages on a disc for Kinko's to print out, wouldn't the font styles, and other images be distorted or changed at Kinko's?

I remember having the same problem when I wanted to create table names for my wedding - I downloaded fonts onto my computer, but wouldn't they be lost if Kinko's didn't have the same exact fonts??! Or am I missing something?

If you send Kinkos .jpgs files or better yet .tif files - then Kinkos having the font is not necessary. Think of it like taking a photo of a newspaper, you dont need the photos or the fonts...it just saves a snapshot. But jpgs and tiff can sometimes be distorted. Ive printed tiffs at Kinkos and it comes out great but Im sure it might differ depending on the project.

If you dont want any distortion, you can give Kinkos the photoshop files AND the font files. They will install the fonts and open your project in Photoshop. There is no distortion but the files are absolutely HUGE.

I went to the kinkos website and it said that the best files would either be KDF which would be converting the file using their software or PDF which is pretty much the standard for graphic design work.
I'm going to save mine as a PDF file and embed all the fonts.
Trying to do that now, but I'm having problems with the conversion.
The PDF for print file is huge as well. It saves at 1200dpi.

Susan: call the kinkos you plan on working with and ask them. I called them after reading their site and they didnt recommending PDF'ing.

Re: Craft Corner: Has anyone done an engagement to wedding scrapbook?

There are a couple of scrapbooking websites that I check every now and again and post the ones like the best here.

One is www.twopeasinabucket.com and the other is something I cant remember the url of. The sites are a little over the top for me....i just like 1% of the stuff on there :D

Re: Craft Corner: Has anyone done an engagement to wedding scrapbook?

I havent been very productive on my own scrapbook since Ive been busy with some other projects but I will do another page soon. Until then I have these one:
EPhotos version 1

Epics version 2

Oh shoot - I forgot to post my bathing suit review. Thanks for reminding me, I will go find that topic.

My photography class was 3 sessions but I missed the last one because my friends fathers death. It was going well up until that point. I will probably take a longer class later this year.
