Creative wedding gift ideas

I'm going to my friends wedding in a couple of weeks and I'd like to get them a gift that's a little out of the ordinary. They are not registered anywhere - I think they are all set on household items. They have a daughter and have been living together for a few years.

Did anyone receive something for their wedding or shower that you considered really special?? My friends are very creative people and would appreciate a gift that was a little different.

I registered for an ice cream maker
we got a bond!
we also got frames, floating candle c-piece for our home, a needlepoint with our names and date and 'With this ring...I thee wed'

What about a basket of like DVD's, a popcorn maker, the flavorings that go with it

or a picnic basket filled with goodies and dishes

or a GC for a family photo shoot

That is a WONDERFUL idea! I'd love to receive that and actually thought for a minute to get them that...until I remember that her FH is a wine salesman.

I don't know how 'special' you would consider this, but we loved it. It was hilarious, yet sweet. DH's uncle (who is also his Godfather and was a GM for the wedding) and his wife gave us a very pretty photo album that we could use to put some of the pics from the wedding in. He told us he took the liberty of putting some pics in the album already. As we turned the first page, we saw a $100 bill. His uncle said 'Did I mention they are pictures of dead presidents?' Every page had a bill of some kind, some singles, some fives, and a few more of those pics of Ben Franklin! It was the funniest thing. It perfectly matched the sense of humor of this uncle, and we loved it. It was just a pin in the but to get all those bills out of the album, but we didn't mind it that much.
