We are thinking of doing a cruise this year. I have been before, but DH has never been.
Are there any cruises where we won't have to sit with another couple at dinner?

Re: Cruise Question
I know Carnival has that option but I bet a lot of others do too. I went on a Carnival cruise last year but wouldn't really recommend it - too many kids and not enough fun adult things to do.

Re: Cruise Question
We are thinking about Royal Carribbean or Norwegian Cruise Lines, but are open to suggestions.

Re: Cruise Question
We went on Royal Caribbean in January and are actually scheduled to go on 2 more cruises in the coming year with them because we loved it so much! We ended up with a table for just the 2 of us at dinner but I'm not sure if our travel agent requested that? You can check with either royal caribbean or if your using a travel agent ask them to set it up! Cruises are the best!!

I really enjoy going to a beach and sitting there the whole week and not moving - just relaxing. I am worried that I won't relax enough on the cruise. What is your experience with this?
I do think food is better on cruises than it is at the all inclusive type places.

Re: Cruise Question
Princess has any time dining and you can request a table for just two. You may have to wait a little longer each night, but you definitely can do it.

what we did..one cause we didnt want to sit with people or dress up was when people were eating dinner we would eat buffet or poolside

Re: Cruise Question
With Norwegian you can sit at your own table and you can eat whenever you want… there aren’t set dinnertimes like on some other ships. I loved the cruise I went on with NCL!

Re: Cruise Question
It depends on the cruise line and on the ship you're on. A lot of the newer boats don't have official sit-down dinners anymore, meaning you can sit alone. But either way, you can just request a 2 person table on any ship. That shouldn't be the determining factor of a cruise you decide on.

Re: Cruise Question
I went on carnival cruise with another couple. And i was hoping to sit with strangers because the other couple we were with were a bit BORING! I was sad that we were sitting just the 4 of us for dinner.
So I think carnival you dont' have to sit with others.
They also have cruises that are freestyle now... I think norwegian does that? I'm not positive. You can just go to dinner at your leisure and not in a time slot, etc.
Your best bet is to check with either your travel agent or the cruise line. If you want to ensure it's just you and the hubs together then the cruise line would have to be notified so they can do appropriate seating.

I always wanted to try norwegian.
I liked the carnival cruise... but I also had my issues with it as well.

You can absolutely just chill and relax on a cruise. If that's your goal then I would sit by the poolside on 'fun day at sea' days and then during the port days you can get off the boat and take either a beach excursion or a cab to one of the beaches on the island. If you take a cab and just go yourselves without an excursion then just be mindful of the time so you don't miss your boat. Tell the cab to come back at a certain time and get his number. They do have beach excursions too... and they usually take you to the better beaches on the island... I'd personally feel more comfortable doing the beach excursions than taking a cab. But that's just me.
For us, we do excursions on all the port days so it gets tiring. A lot of the time you dock VERY early on the island and have until early afternoon to get back on the boat... so if you want to get off onto the islands then you have to wake up early and come back early. They usually have at least one island though that you are there from morning until late at night. i would recommend checking out the cruise schedule... pay special attention to what days and what times you are going to be docked.
