my husband and i are going on a cruise in 2 weeks and i can't wait!!! it's our first, and I'd appreciate any helpful tips/hints you might have. It's Norwegian so 'freestyle dining' - no specific times, you just go eat when you want at any of the restaurants.
Thanks!

Re: Cruise Tips anyone???
I never get sea sick, I always take BONINE to prevent it, it does not make you sleepy and you can drink with it too, so I would take it just in case, so you NEVER get that Yucky feeling...
order room service at least once, even if it is just fruit or something- it's fun to eat in bed!
Sometimes getting a chair at the pool is difficult, people get up so early to get one-
It's so much fun! Enjoy it! Try to go to many shows!
Even if you dont want to eat at it, go to the midnight buffet! Take some pics! : )

Re: Cruise Tips anyone???
Hi Lauren,
My DH & I have been on many cruises, including Norwegian (the Dawn), here's a few tips off the top of my head:
1) Don't be the first to get to the muster drill or you are put all the way in the back w/ a bunch of people in front of you & you have to stand around until everyone gets there anyway. Take your time & don't rush, you do have to go b/c they check your cabins, but get down there last minute.
2) If you want to go to the special restaurant (for 25. extra a person) make reservations as soon as you get on the ship b/c they fill up fast...also Don'T go on the formal night. It is worth it b/c you are catered to & its a 5 course meal.
3) Take a water bottle/container with you so you can fill it with the free iced tea/lemonade when you go by the pool
4) Take a small beach bag with you to take on the tours to put your towels/suntan lotion
5) As the above poster said, order the room service, we'd order fruit/coffee & eat while we were getting ready & then head out for real breakfast (all room service is free, just throw the guy a dollar)
6) If you really want a tour, sign up early, some fill up
7) Time your dinners so you can get there for the shows (if that is your thing)
8) If you want to stay by the pool put your towel/something there to mark your chair early
9) There is free ice cream by the pool & pizza 24 hours a day
10) There are limited outlets in the room, we took a power strip for our electronics
All I can think of now....
Also, take/use a plastic bag for your laundry....OR they have a few w/d on every floor, we took an afternoon & did laundry one day.

I always pack a small bag with a our bathing suits and some shorts and t-shirts. so that we can get comfortable as soon as we get to the ship. Sometimes we had to wait a until after dinner to get our luggage.
Have a great time!
