Crying At The Wedding

Original post by Future Mulligan

now that everyone is married i want to know who cried and who's DH cried?

i got teary eyed a few times but the tears never fell - i had to really hold them in - i was so afraid of ruining my make up....i teared up the first time i saw DH, i teared up walking down the aisle, i teared up during DH's vows to me and during my vows to him (in a lot of the pics, and in our ceremony re-cap video i am making a monkey face b/c my lips are quivering )

my DH was teary eyed A LOT - he was tearing up as i walked down the aisle and i don't know how he made it through his vows b/c he was sniffling, crying, the works he had everyone in tears, even the officiant had tears! its was cute b/c half way through he had to take a break and he said 'WOW!' like making fun of himself kind of - and everyone was laughing - it was really cute....

i didn't think we would be as emotional as we were - i thought id get the nervous giggles and laugh or smile a lot - and i thought DH might tear up but i never expected him to be as emotional as he was - that boy must really love me ....

I just remember being so excited the night before and the whole morning. I barely even slept because I had to be up at 4:30 and I was just too damn excited. So many emotions you go through. The only time I teared up before I saw DH was when the flowers got delivered to the hotel. I think the moment we saw the bouquets was when I realized that I was actually getting married. I had so much fun with my girls the night before and the morning of at the hotel. I'm so glad they were able to stay with me.

It's funny because one of my very best friends is getting married this Sunday and we went out for my birthday on Saturday. I asked her if she's had the big cry yet and she said no. So we'll see what happens-maybe I'm just a big baby.

no you're not lol, i also cried ALOT just not the day of

its weird but while at home getting ready i kept saying it felt like i was just getting hair and make up done but doesnt feel like im about to go to the church and get married. When i was in the rolls with my parents and we got off the exit for the church thats when it hit me HARD!!!! and he put the music on well the horns or whatever it is lol that they do. I remembered always seeing other brides in their cars and thinking WOW its me this time how crazy. The church was in my old neighborhood where i grew up so i liked that. But once we turned down the block of my church and driving up to it, i couldnt breathe. I was sitting close to the edge of the seat bc i didnt want my dress to get wrinkled plus it was big lol, and i was holding on to the little lever thing by the door. My mom was laughing bc i was like OMG this is it and take deep breaths like i was going into labor so i did have a moment where it hit me hard lol. Then when i was inside the church but by the entrance waiting, i saw dh through the window from the side i was at, and i remember just think awwww there he goes

its funny b/c i was with DH all day but right before the ceremony i got really really really nervous.....like almost a panic.....DH left to go down to the ceremony area about 30 minutes before and i was upstairs with the girls and my mom and dad - then mom left, then the girls went to go line up and it was just me and dad....and i kept asking my dad if he was nervous and he kept saying, 'no, not really' and i said, 'good because i am freaking out!!' when the bridesmaid started walking down and i could hear the music i was like hollllllly moses this is really happening and there is no turning back i was tearing up then too and i was scared a little, nervous, not sure why - it just felt like such a huge moment, an important moment, and i was like you better be sure this is what you really want .....then it was my turn to walk down and i thought i wouldnt be able to do it but once the doors opened and i heard my song i was a ham well a smiling, monkey faced, teary eyed ham

i also got very emotional at the hotel when my flowers arrived - all morning i was cool, it didn't feel real at all - when M-i-a had just started my make up the flowers were delivered, they brought the box of boks over to me and i started getting really teary eyed - it was at that moment that i was like 'o fcuk' this is going to be baaaaad - if i am getting teary over flowers (and i am NOT a flowers person at all) then i am going to be a wreck later

its kind of silly, out of all things it was the flowers that really made me feel like WOW i am getting married today - i mean enough to make my heart pound in my ears, like i got nervous, excited, teary, all that b/c of my boks

then when ag got there i started getting pumped hahahahaha

it wasn't until i saw DH for the first time that i got emotional again.....then again for the ceremony....

'o fcuk'... You know for some reason, I think that is when it really hit me...the day before when I saw my bouquet.

The most I cried all day was the last dance of the night. My father and my uncle (both deceased) were both big Sinatra fans. Throughout the wedding planning I kept hearing Sinatra songs like when we met with the DJ and the officiant, right before an appointment at Kleinfeld). I know some people don't really believe that but it meant something to me...I just felt like he was there with me. When we first met with the DJ I even asked him to NOT play any Sinatra because I was afraid I would fall apart, but at the end I decided to ask them to play a couple of songs, one being their favorite, 'My Way' as the last song. Funny thing is I only put a couple of songs on the list and throughout the night I kept hearing more. Well, as soon as the song came on and my DH took my hand to dance, that was it...and then I started everyone crying. Sorry to go on so long.

awwww, i believe it that stuff too - it couldnt just be a coincidence that you heard those songs everytime you were doing something wedding related - it must have been them letting you know they were there watching i 100% believe in that kind of thing....that is really sweet! i love stories like that!

I have to agree with nicole..gina I believe in things like this as well! I think he was always there with you and watching down on you! Remember he was at your wedding in spirit..and he got the best seat in the house!

Aww, thanks.

I cried walking down the aisle. DH had tears and could barely talk during the vows. The picture of him watching me as I walked down the aisle is my favorite picture out of all of them.

i teared up the last 1/2 down the aisle as my brother was walking with me. then during a certain part in the vows i choked up a bit. he didnt cry, but said he felt like his knees were gonna give way..

As my dad and I were starting to walk down.. he said .. jokingly.. we are finally getting rid of you.. and I started hysterically crying.. and he felt soooo bad.. but I wasn't upset.. I was just so emotional and I held all of my emotions in for so long during the planning process that I cried the ENTIRE way down the aisle!!!

we both cried like babies. in the pics you see me walking down the aisle crying, and you see DH all choked up as my dad hands me over to him. during the ceremony we were crying, and so were all of our guests.

but the most emotional part of the day was our reveal. we both cried a lot, DH was actually physically shaking. it was such an unforgettable moment.

Aww that was soooo sweet Tina.

We were the same way. Actually I'm not sure that tears ever ran down my face but I definitely welled up a lot and I for sure had the ugly face walking down the aisle and while he was saying his vows to me.

I cried when I started walking down the aisle...I cried when we said our vows...I cried during the MOH and BM speeches...I cried during my dad's speech...I also cried during the dance with my dad...actually I bawled at this point!

So yes, I was a wet, teary-eyed FREAK on the day we got married!

I have been with DH for 9 years so I was so so happy that this was finally our big day!!! Everyone there was soooo happy for us and you could really feel it! Totally overwhelming!

He cried the second he saw me at the back of the church, and when he danced with his mom. I started getting teary when we were pulling away from my house but the tears didn't fall (afraid of ruining my makeup also). The only time a tear did fall was when i wad dancing with my dad. That totally did it!

I didnt cry at all lol. BUT i did cry non-stop the week before so i really think i was just all cried out hahahha. Even 2 days before the wedding i had cried for 2 hours and for no reason, the day before while i was driving for hours all around the city i kept crying non-stop lol and couldnt stop. The day of i was just smiles all day from ear to ear, like when i saw dh i smiled and the whole time i was on the altar i had this real excited feeling and kept smiling at him.

DH teared when i walked down the aisle, he was biting his lip so he wouldn't cry too much, i did think to myself W** just let it out the pics are funny bc you see him trying to hold it in

oh my god i was a mess the week before the wedding..anytime someone would mention the wedding i would get so emotional..

I cried, I didnt think I would but I almost didnt make it through my vows. Also, as soon as I arrived at the church, my brother and his fiance walked towards our limo to see me on their way into the church - I totally LOST it...

here are pics and a video or the vows I still cant believe I broke down in tears but the memories are great.

our vows and I sobbed

I didn't. I imagined it all as a show, actually.

One of my bridesmaids was crying, but had nothing to wipe her tears on during the ceremony. I felt bad for her. I actually laughed a little during the ceremony when I saw her.

I laughed a lot, but no tears. Not for DH either.
My bridesmaids and our parents were messes though!

Re: Crying At The Wedding

DH and I got teary-eyed when I came down the aisle and then it was emotional when my Dad hugged me and 'gave me away'.

During our Mass I had our string quartet play The Prayer by Andrea Bocelli - a song my Grandmother loved. I cried real tears during that. I looked across the altar to my sister, at one point, hoping seeing her would help me get it together but she was crying more than I was!!! So, that didn't work. It just made us both sad about our Grammy -- she was there in spirit though!

DH and I got teary-eyed during our first dance.

That was pretty much it.

My Dad cried during our dance lol I still tease him LOL!
