Decorating vent: spinoff on Michele31's post
Just curious what you ladies think...Do you ever feel like you have great ideas in your head, but you just can't find anything you like in the stores?
Shelves are the perfect example! I have gorgeous wrought iron shelves in my head (in brushed black, with scrolls), but no matter what I can't find them anywhere.....I have 4 different places I would like to put them, but no luck. And no matter what I do, or what I see, nothing compares! Meanwhile, they might not even exist!!

Re: Decorating vent: spinoff on Michele31's post
I do that all the time with fabrics...like curtains or decorative pillows. I know exactly what I want them to look like and I can never find them. It's so annoying. Or what what also happens to me is I'll find something I like and go back to get it a week or so later and its discontinued.

Re: Decorating vent: spinoff on Michele31's post
my Grandmother wanted the shelves in gold...so she bought them and my grandfather spray painted them with metal spray paint in a gold...you can do that, spray them then 'antique' it with the black! I bet they would look beautiful!!
Ill post a picture of it later!!

I do the same thing! All the time! And it's really frustrating!Marni - could you get a copper or bronze paint at michaels and either dry brush or rag on/rag off it on to black metal shelf?

Totally Marni ... with clothes and with everything else. I wanted an antique brass fan with the light wood and can I tell you how crazy I drove Rob.

Totally agree. I need curtain tie-backs to match my PB rods and cannot find a plain aged bronze rod anywhere so I might end up buying cheap ones and painting them. Lowes/home depot all sell those types of sprays.

Marni- I have the same problem. I have a vision of a coat holder with metal holders with a shelf. So far I cannot find qhat I am looking for. I am also in search of a cabinet above my toilet-can't find that either!

I love the shelves! What about decorative perfume bottles or those corked bottles/mason jars with bath salts with pretty labels or tops?
