On one hand it's nice that they try to be involved...but it sounds like they're a bit pushy when they do it. Is there any way that tickets could be 'limited' - so you can tell them sorry but I'm only allowed X amount of people and those tix have already been spoken for???

Obviously I don't know the situation fully...I don't know what has gone on between your MIL and yourself. I know if my MIL did this I'd be livid, but she and I do not have a good relationship and she has said not nice things about me and my parents in the past, so for her to do something like that would be very fake and unacceptable.

But...going from what you've said, it seems like she is genuinely excited for your father and wants to be there to show her support at this special time in his life...from the details you've provided, I think you're overreacting.
