Depressed about proofs.......

Hi Everyone,

I don't post often but I 've been a newlywed for a little over a month now. I just got back my proofs last night and I'm a little depressed. I realized my photographers did not get a lot of shots that I wanted a there are quite a few that are missing. I am going to call them to find out what happened but I'm afraid that maybe we didn't get those because they did not come great. Did anyone else feel this way? Or did this happen to anyone else? I like my photographers and chose them because they were recommended by many girls but now I feel really disappointed

I felt this way - but I blame myself for not giving them a list of all the pictures that I wanted.

The pictures that did come out - were beautiful though

I think it is really tough to get all the shots you want because the photographers can't be everywhere all the time and they usually try to capture the day as it unfolds.

If you remember actually posing for a bunch of shots that you didn't get, then say something.

I know that there is one pic that we thought we were supposed to get as we were posed for it in the video, but the photographer's don't seem to have it.

Don't be too depressed yet. And remember that you may have some non-professional candids from friends that will help complete your list of desired pictures. Just because someone other than the photographer got it, doesn't mean they didn't capture a moment!

Don't stress I would just give them a call and find out what happened. But i think alot of brides feel like this after the big day because I feel like the photographer may have missed some great shots but I will not know until I see myu proofs I did'nt get them back yet so we will see

I have to agree. This time a year ago they were great. I'm not sure what is causing the difference in quality but it's not the same. And to think I broke a contract with another photographer to switch with the company we had. I looked at other girl's proofs from a year ago and they were of such a better quality.

You know, alot of complaints are popping up about them lately. I wasnt totally WOWed by my proofs, like you said, other girls' were much better. I think they lost their touch a bit. And my DH just called them to see about the layout and they said there are major delays. Plus they first told us that it would be 3-4 weeks after the layout was approved then the albums would be ready but now its 8 weeks.

While I was happy overall with my Duet proofs, there were more posed than photojournalistic shots, (which we had said we wanted more of), too many of them were in BxW, and most of all, many of our best color shots had an awful yellowish cast to them! These are just the proofs, but I am really, really disappointed with the printing quality.

To their credit, they did re-print many proofs for us and most came out better but not all.

I think their lab work should be better. I am hoping we don't run into problems with the enlargements and album.

ssnellie, I called Duet about a few proofs I felt were missing. For instance, we didn't have any of our CH musicians or any of our seating cards. They looked and found 3 pics of those for us.

So I think they sort through the proofs and pick out the ones they think are best to give to us but occassionally they may miss something good, so it is worth checking into.

The yellowish cast could be the proofs in sepia... they can change those to color or B & W if you ask them to.

I know that the B & W proofs taken on actual B & W film had handwriting on the back. All others can be changed b/c they are digital.

thank you guys for responding. I did call Sue and she told me that she will have my photographer check for some of the missing pics or pics that were probably missed. I feel like there were some shots that they just should have gotten. For example my mom and I in the limo. Instead I get a proof back with one of my bridesmaidsstanding in front of the open door blocking us with part of my dress sticking out and trust me this is no photojournalistic shot either.

I will try to scan some and post later tonight.

I also think its impossible for the photographers to catch every single shot..I wish I had added more 'must takes' to my list. For exampe I really wish I had a pic of me giving my dad a kiss after he finished walking me down the aisle or a pic of DH's reaction to me walking down the aisle or even more romantic shots of just me and DH.

I think its normal to wish you had more or something a bit different especially when you start to look at other brides pics and compare.

I hope they are able to find the shots you're looking for!

No, I have some sepia shots but the ones with a yellow cast are definitely color shots and they are horrible! I might try to scan one or two in and show all of you. I would be interested in knowing if other brides had weird colors in their shots. It isn't natural looking.
