I dont get how people expect you to pay over $2,000 to go to their wedding in the first place.. ugh. And then a gift... geez!
They came to our wedding and i really appreciated it and all but it was a 20 minute drive!
sorry im very whiney today

Re: Destination Wedding Gift
Ive gone and still given a gift. I know its tough but Ive gone to 2 destination weddings that I would not have even bothered to go to if we werent close. I didnt give as much as I usually would but I still did.
But I would hope that anyone having a destination wedding realizes that they shouldnt expect gifts.

Re: Destination Wedding Gift
actually they just answered this on the Martha show the other day. A wedding gift for ANY wedding is not required. It is completely up to you. For destination weddings they said do what you can.

Re: Destination Wedding Gift
Well I think it depends. . I might do a little token gift. . mostly I take my cue from the bride and grooms. . destination weddings I have been to most of them have said - your presence is our gift . i said the same thing to my OOT.

Re: Destination Wedding Gift
I would budget my money and make sure I give an adequate gift. That's just me. If I can't afford to give a nice gift because of travels, I would splurge on something nice- like a Waterford crystal which is pricey but not as pricey as a usual 300 dollar wedding gift or whatever you normally give.
