DH, You and Your Birth Order
The other thread about if your relationship had changed since you got married brought me to think of why it had changed.DH and I are both only children. I had never seen the similarities until now.
Do you think being the oldest, middle, youngest or only child in your family, effects who you are in your marriage?
Being an only child, we both understand eachother on a different level. We both have the need for some 'alone' time, and it's never taken personally, I love that!

Re: DH, You and Your Birth Order
I am the oldest and DH is the youngest.....I think there is a caretaker role I play and he enjoys the little things I do for him in that role. He's also very creative and nonchalant about things whereas I tend to be uptight, regiemented, things need to get done NOW attitude.

We're both the youngest in our families, so we're both used to being spoiled!

I'm exactly the same as Btrflygirl. Sometimes I wish I was the younger child.

We are both the oldest, and we both act like it. We look after our siblings, and are both independent.

Re: DH, You and Your Birth Order
Hi Michelle - I never thought about it much but Lou and I are both the oldest and both follow all the typical characteristics of the oldest. I am not sure how it affects our relationship - now I am going to think about it - but we are both very independent and try to be over-achievers and put a lot of pressure on ourselves (but not each other) to succeed.

Re: DH, You and Your Birth Order
hey
I am the oldest and Tom is the youngest of the siblings. I take on more of a caretaker, independent role while he is more laid back and I know for a fact he was totally spoiled as a kid. But somehow we always balance each other out

im the second to the youngest and he is the yougest and only boy in a very italian family so you can only imagine lol. he likes to get his way alot and was use to being spoiled but i can honestly say that he really helps with the house work and cooking and also spoils me alot, his mom even questioned me at my shower because all of the cleaning things like vacumns and stuff my mom was like oh anthony got his vacum lol. his mom said he didnt even know what a vacumn was a few years ago lol. he would get out of his bed when he woke in the morning and by the time he came back from the bathroom his bed was made by his grandma lol. im still in bed when he leaves lol so that is going to happen anytime soon .

Re: DH, You and Your Birth Order
See, I just found it so interesting to see how one's birth order plays some sort of role in your relationship.Neicey- It just dawned on me that you guys were both the oldest! Don't you feel to some extent that you understand eachother a little bit better w/out ever having to explain any of your thoughts?
Jen- just like you guys, we seem to be a perfect balance for one another.

Re: DH, You and Your Birth Order
We're both the oldest and both fall into that role of looking out for our younger brothers, who we both feel are spoiled and lazy. We're both more family oriented and probably do more for our families than our siblings. We also share the common background of 'breaking' our parents in while growing up

Re: DH, You and Your Birth Order
My DH is the middle of 3, I am the middle of 5, we both have that loud, jokster, 'look at me' syndrome typical of middle children...
