DH's Dad - Sunday Afternoon Update
So as some of you may remember DH has never had a good relationship with his dad and he was diagnosed with terminal cancer 4 months ago. Well DH is on a business trip right now in Phoenix and got a call from his uncle that he needed to come home NOW if he wants to make it in time to see his dad one last time. They don't think he's going to last another day, and poor DH may not be able to get there until tomorrow morning. I tried to help him as best as I could to change his flight and limo service and all that stuff, but it might be too late...so I'd ask for prayers to make it so that everything is ok. But really all I want is for his dad to live long enough so DH can see him...
ETA: Friday Morning
So I talked to DH this morning. He got there at like 5ish this morning and his dad was still alive but barely responsive. His sister and aunt are there (and he and his aunt have buried the hatchet) so he's not alone. His uncle will probably come in again later today. Although his aunt was going to go home and take a shower, but when the doctor's checked FIL's vitals she decided not to leave, so...this could happen soon.
I'm really torn about whether I should go up there right now or not. I have a meeting and an appointment with a participant today (I do research) so I should go to work and DH told me not to worry about it because he's got his sister and his aunt, but I still feel like he needs me and I can't help but worry.
Ugh. Maybe I'll just work until my meeting is over and then go up there. My boss is really understand so she wouldn't care what I do. I'll let you know when I find out more.
ETA2:
Just talked to DH. The doctor said he has anywhere from a few minutes to a day so I'm leaving for PA now.
ETA: Friday Night
I managed to get there about an hour before FIL passed away. So at least things are over and there's no more suffering. Thanks everyone for all your support, I really appreciate it. DH is obviously really upset and stressed out.
The wake is actually on our one year anniversary, I guess it was a good thing we did our celebrating last weekend.
Will let you guys know how it goes.
ETA: Sunday Afternoon
Wake - Monday 1/18 from 4-7pm
Burial - Tuesday 11am
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brighten at Julia Ribaudo, 1404 Golf Park Drive, Lake Ariel PA 18436. Att: Mary Anne Hornack. It's for a new crash cart.
What an awesome way to spend our first anniversary...
