Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
another color? Mine are dyable and were dyed ivory for the wedding. I was considering dyeing them black so I can reuse them and not let them go to waste? (I have 5 weddings to attend this year and black strappy sandals - can comein hadny!)Anyone do that? how much is reasonable to get shoes dyed?

Re: Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
Yes, I was going to do this. most places do it for free for you, as I understand it. I know where I bought the shoes does it for fee. I was thinking about getting mine died black... I love the shoes but have no need for a pair of Ivory heels!

Re: Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
They sell a dye kit on myglassslipper.com It's $8.75. A lot of small local places will dye your shoes for free if you purchased your shoes there. Here's a pic from the site:

Re: Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
Hmm...thats wild...I wonder if that will work? I have beading on my shoe so Im thinking it might not but for $8.75 it might be worth it.Anyone else ever do their own dying?

Re: Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
are the beads clear, or are they pearls? If they're clear, you just have to be sure to get the dye under the beads. I dyed a pair of shoes for my sister once, she was a princess in a play and had a red dress, and we couldn't find a pair of shoes to match. They looked great.

Re: Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
Stef, can you rebead the shoes with black beads?

Re: Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
The beads are clear so it should probably be okay if i can get the dye underneath.I could rebead them but I dont think I would want to unless it couldnt be avoided.
My shoes have a huge black stain on them so its not like I could have much use for them as-is anyway. Maybe i will get the kit.

Re: Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
Stef, are you leaving the Kenneth Coles white/ivory then? Or will you try to dye them as well?

Re: Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
Im leaving the Kenneth Coles ones ivory...they are good as new so there is no point in dying those. I might wear them to my Elvis vow renewal :D Hehehe

Re: Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
I wanted to find somewhere locally to dye them in Astoria or the city. I bought my shoes in LI and I don't drive so it would be a hassle for me. I don't want to attempt to dye them for myself 1- because of the beading (like Stef they are clear but I would have to get under them) and 2-because I am lazy. What do you think would be reasonable cost for a pair of strappy sandals?

Re: Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
Niecy - you dont drive? I thought Iwas the only one!!There is a place on the upper east or west side of NYC that I have heard recommended before. Its too far away for me to go and I think they want $40 to dye the shoes. If you still want it, let me know and i will dig up the name.

Re: Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
Niecey, there is a place in Astoria (obn Steinway Street) called Dyeing for You (close to Steinway and 30th avenue). I know they will dye them for free if you buy the shoes there, but I am sure they will dye them for a small fee even if you didn't buy them there.

Re: Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
Don't worry about it Stef - there is a place in my neighborhood I can go to (Dyeing for You) but before I go I want to make sure they aren't ripping my off.....so I was hoping people could tell me what is average price. And yep - no license. 30 and never drove! Guess it's the city girl in me. I am planning on taking lessons in the spring (I say this every year - but this year I am serious) because I am house hunting on the island and will need to drive soon!!! (My mom and brother (28) don't have licenses either. My dad let his expire....years and years ago...only my little 25 yr old brother has one! My family could never afford a car growing up - so growing up I never had the incentive - we learned to get by on public transportation...and I guess I am still use to that.)

Re: Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
I dont think it will work on the satin evenly...but if you dont mind a color variation it should be okay.Niecey - I have a license but hate to drive so much I just refuse to do it. I feel like Im carrying a loaded gun so to speak. You know when there are people on the road that drive so badly you think they are afraid of their own car - thats me!! So I will do the world a favor and stay in the passenger seat :D But im never giving up my license - that driving test was so nerve wracking, I refuse to let it expire. Hahhahha!

Re: Did anyone dye their wedding shoes...
I did! The place where I bought my wedding shoes did them for free after the wedding. I loved my strappy sandals, and now that they're black, I'll actually get some use out of them this summer!!
