MIL wore an ivory long gown....

of course, every bride is different, but to me, I didn't mind at all. My gown was such a crazy get-up... so poofy and frilly, I KNOW she wasn't trying to 'compete'. I bet she wore ivory becuase our wedding party colors were ivory and black, and she refused to wear black becuase she considered it bad luck

I also think it may not be a rule of thumb in every country... I have no idea if wearing white to a wedding is tabu in poland or not

No one wore white. My mom wore (w/ my permission) a cream color dress, it looks almost khaki in photos.

However, there were a good number of people wearing dresses darn near the SAME color as my BMs, and they were wearing aqua!!

And we had a few Under-dressed people. My 'red neck' family who didnt know any better on how to dress at a 'NY' wedding. I'm talking a polo shirt and black slacks on one and another wore a black tee shirt and black jeans....no joke!

one of my friends from taekwondo did...but it was a short sundress..and since we had casual attire and a beach theme it honestly fit in and didn't bother me at all..haha..i think one of my friend's was more upset about it....
(we were doing a demo to 'everybody was kung fu fighting'...DJ picked that song..i was dying laughing)

I was pissed! I had 4 freakin people white! And one in particular who should've known better!

It was actually just on Glamours Wedding Do's and Don'ts (VH1 special) how it's a DON'T!

a bunch of girls wore white at our wedding and it didn't bother me at all.....to be honest, I never even thought about it. Why? I mean, to me, it's not a huge deal at all......they all knew who the bride was.........

I honestly don't remember.
And if someone did I really don't mind. Everyone knew I was the bride.

Yeah I know, it's dumb to be upset, everyone knew I was the bride, but for some reason it REALLY bugged me. Actually it bugged me more after the wedding than it did the day of,

YEP! A friend of mine's date wore a short white dress-I saw her when I was in the limo outside of church--for 2 seconds I was a little shocked but it didn't bother me--nothing really could that day

Yeah I know, it's dumb to be upset, everyone knew I was the bride, but for some reason it REALLY bugged me. Actually it bugged me more after the wedding than it did the day of, and I think it's partly because of the other things she and her husband said to/about us or to my sister that weekend.

I feel the same way. While I wasnt thrilled the day of, it actually bothered me more when I saw the pictures. But if you asked the two people Im sure one would call her dress 'ivory' and the other person called it 'light grey'. Translation=white!!!

That is wedding guest etiquette rule number 1.

I suppose if it is a very beachy or summery wedding, people would wear light colors that are similar to white.....but actual WHITE?

ONLY THE BRIDE WEARS WHITE.

nope -- no one wore white to mine.

i know we're supposed to be adults and stuff--but i will admit that if someone DID wear white i wouldn't have liked it at all. i mean it just one of those things--for one day out of the year, the bride is the one in white and no one else should be. it might be silly to some -- but to me its a big no-no. i would never ever wear white to someone's wedding.

My husbands aunt from Florida wore white. Didn't bother me a bit. My dress was Ivory anyway

I dont recall anyone wearing white....but if they did, I probably would have been too caught up in the day to even care.

actually, yes. my dad's step sister wore her WEDDING DRESS. granted, it was the dress she wore for her 6th marriage and she got married on the beach in st. lucia, but still i was like, you've got to be kidding. it didn't bother me, but it made me laugh at the ridiculousness

no, but my SIL's cousing wore white to her wedding.


2 people wore navy blue to my wedding... those were BM's color.... no biggie...
