HI ladies. My brother is planning his engagement party and would like to have an outdoor BBQ. We were thinking of having it at a park? Maybe like Heckscher state park. We would want a DJ,be able to have tents set up and have famous Dave BBQ come and cook everything. He wants games set up, dunk tank, vollyball among many other things. I cant find any info about this anywhere, price for renting at the field? I told my brother Id as my girls!!

Re: Did anyone have an outdoor engagement party?
Yes, I had mine at my moms backyard. People had the option of going inside if they wanted too.
I think a park is a great idea.

I had mine outside, I think I have an album of the pics.
We used empire tent rentals for the tent, tables, chairs, linens, dancefloor and for the china/glassware

Now just another question my mom is worried about. Since it would be a daytime event we were going to invite everyone including children to have fun. But my Aunt said that was a bad idea because then those parents will think that there kids will be invited to the wedding? Is this true? Should we not invite them then?

I had kids at my eparty but not at the wedding. Just spread it thru word of mouth and if they want on the invites too.

We didn't have kids at the engagement party - just our nephew (my SILs son who was about 1 at the time) I'm not sure why he was there but no other kids were around.....For the wedding we had no kids also not even our nephew was at the wedding...
I'm not sure what people might think

I don't think parents will expect that their children will be invited to the wedding just because they were invited to engagment party. The E-party is obviously informal and low key, a place where children can run around and have fun. I am sure they will understand if only the adults are invited to the wedding.

Re: Did anyone have an outdoor engagement party?
We had ours in my parents' backyard. Just a very casual BBQ. We only invited our close families and their children, so there was nobody invited that wasn't invited to the wedding. We didn't even rent tents or anything... just crossed our fingers that it was a nice day! My DH's niece brought her slip n' slide so that was a huge hit with the kids, and really broke the ice between our two families.

Re: Did anyone have an outdoor engagement party?
We did ours at South haven park. We just did a simple BBQ. We didn't do tents or anything like that. We were lucky to have such wonderful June weather.

Re: Did anyone have an outdoor engagement party?
Had an outdoor event for our Jack n Jill but it was not at a park, it was at a friends gorgeous backyard. We did not invite the children , children were not invited to the wedding.
I am wondering about the parks regulations for a DJ? I am not sure tho I would check that out bfr you hire.
