did anyone purchase vacation insurance for their HM? pls. help.

DH and I have a vacation planned from Dec. 27-Jan.3 (Sandals). Someone in our family is *very* ill and suddenly took a bad turn, so we would of course would cancel our trip if she passes.

It's too late to get insurance thru Sandals, and if we cancel after Dec. 12, we lose the entire cost of the trip (except airfare).

I'm not sure how travel insurance works, but I'm looking into it. But is it too late?

I hope I'm not coming off as being insensitive or anything. I just want to be prepared and avoid losing $7k if it's possible.

Sorry to hear about your family member. I would give sandals a call it cannot hurt to ask.

If I remember correctly my travel agent told me that we could purchase travel insurance at any point up until like 24hrs. or something like that before we left. I may be wrong though. I hope everything works out for you!

i purchased it, it wasn't that much more $ to do soo, it was worth it, god forbid anything happen, it was worth it not loosing all that money we put down for it for like 150 bucks!

Just make sure that they cover cancellation for the reason you're imagining if you do decide to get insurance.

sorry to hear about your family member - hope nothing happens. . we did get insurance but didn't use it so not sure how it works. . but def worth calling and seeing about insurance. .
