Did I make a boo boo?

SO I was feeling especially saucy since my promotion got announced at noon today~

An hour ago I posted on facebook about it-some of you commented..

but then I realized that the whole office hasn't found out yet (only the department I'm going to be working in has)...................argghhhhhhhh is the office going to be buzzing now about this?

I feel like that was a bit unprofessional of me...but at the same time I'm so very very excited about it that I want to tell the world..

I took it off of facebook after maybe 45 minutes of it being up.

So be honest-did I totally make a boo boo or is it understandable?

I private messaged a girl in the office (who works in another dept) and she said as long as the dept knows it's fine.........

I wouldn't worry about it. They made it public information, and it's understandable you're excited!

In general, I block my FB status updates from everyone at work, save a select few I'm very close with. I highly recommend doing that.

How do you do that?

You have to set up lists for your friends -- I have a zillion different lists so I can set different privacy preferences for each.

So one of my lists is 'work people' and when I go into my other privacy settings, I just don't select that group to be able to see my status updates.

I have a separate list for family, high school, college, 'important people', and LIW (of course!) -- it's also great if your news feed gets super cluttered sometimes to make sure you don't miss updates from people you really want to see.

My 'work' list basically sees a limited profile view of me -- no wall posts or status updates.

It takes a little while to set up, but if you're paranoid like I always am, it's worth it.
