Did you ever try and clean up, but ended up making more of a mess?

Started to attack the attic today, and now my living room is is full of little boxes of stuff that I can't throw out.

Someone help me.

I have that stuff too things you don't want/need but can't throw away.

I saw a pro organizer on Oprah he said to first grab a large bin bag give yourself 2 minutes and throw out as much stuff as possible. If you haven't seen it or used it in 1 year you don't need it.

After that make piles. Things to donate, throw away, keep and sell.

I wish I could take this advice. I look at a mess and feel overwhelmed. My dh likes to clean so I just leave it to him.

Good luck

Have you ever seen the show Clean Sweep? Thats how they do it. They start with a toss and a keep pile, then they go through the keep pile and have to cut it in half.

I hate throwing stuff away. Always feel I will need it the moment it is gone. Which is usually the case lol. But with clothes and things the rule is suppsoed to be if you havent looked at it in over 2 seasons, dump it because you will never wear it again. Same goes for clothing in colors you dont like. Your fave clothign tends to be in the same color familes. Most of my fave things are reds, pinks, creams, oranges....

Good luck on your chaos...er cleaning.

Thanks! I am just looking at most of it now and tossing it. It has to be done.

I feel your pain. It seem I can only part with items the day before and the day Aunt Flo arrives. Scott says I am a pile queen.

I do this all the time-so I just stopped
Now when I clear out closets if I dont know whats in it-I take a peek and toss it. We have been in our place for over 1 year, if I havent looked for it then I dont need it

me too! I start, get bored, and leave a bigger mess to 'finish later'. Then I get frustrated and just throw everything out in big contractor bags.

sort of...I get that feeling whenever I try to iron clothes...somehow I end up creating more wrinkles than they started out with!

We are cleaning out our attic in preparation for renovating our house- we threw out 30 YEARS of stuff today. Our neighbors thought we were moving.
