did you get a gift from ppl who cancelled???

I am talking about people who cancelled out on your wedding right before the wedding. We had a few such cancellations. Some were earlier in the week and we did not end up paying for them, but they don't even know that.

One couple cancelled the night before the wedding by calling my MIL and sent NOTHING so far (wimp could not call us???).

An old friend of mine cancelled 4 days before the wedding by e-mail and I have not heard from him since even though I sent him an e-mail after the wedding asking if he is okay (because his excuse was a sudden out of town issue that he has to deal with). But another friend of mine saw that he's been active on match.com, so he can't be too distraught!

We didn't get gifts from these people.

Some of them are family that I'd be expected to be nice to in the future, but I have every intention of politely snubbing them, if there is such a thing!

And I keep thinking of how much I spent just to invite these people. I keep saying that I should have had a set of really cheap invites just for certain people (like maybe fill in the blanks!).

Sometimes I don't think about this at all, then sometimes I get really POed about it!!

Whenever we talk about having future family get togethers I feel like I'll only talk to the people who were there for us!

People are inconsiderate and rude I had 3 people not show up to the reception - 1-family and 2 of my mom's friends, but they gave me something that day (thru someone else delivering) or a few weeks later.

Hopefully these people will be thoughtful enough to come thru for you

a person from work was called out of town on business the friday before the wedding. a friend of dh cancelled the day of the wedding saying her b/f fell in the house and is dizzy. she said we'll do dinner. we're still waiting for dinner. we didn't get anything fromt he girl from work

nope. I had people that didnt even bother to show up and nothing. I have to say - I dont speak to them now. Not because they didnt even cover their head, but because they definately could have come to my wedding, but decided LAST minute to do something else.

One of my college friends had a family emergency and didn't end up coming. She never sent a gift. I really don't mind though.

Another couple didn't come because the husband got called into work last minute, but they sent a gift beforehand anyway.

Strangely enough, there is one gift that came off my registry, but I never received it. I'm 90% sure it's from above mentioned College friend, but I don't have the cojones to ask. It was just a bakeware set anyway.

Morons...write em off. Don't stoop though, When their time comes just be as coldly polite as possible. If they have half a brain this will torment them.

Sorry this happened. I had about 9 people cancel the night before due to the flu..my hall was nice enough not to charge me. But we didn't get gifts or even a card from half of them. DH's side...

I had two people cancel, but both had unexpected childcare issues, and both let me know in advance. They also both sent gifts anyway.

We had three people not show on the day. Two were a couple that we received an excuse from through another friend and have since not heard from. The other was an older lady who fell that day. We received a very generous check from her this week.

We also had 2 very close family members in DH's side who gave no gift. I am certainly snubbing them and don't mind if I have to avoid them for the rest of my life
ETA: One was in the bridal party and one was a reader and they both received very nice gifts for their involvement from us.

Well we had one person cancel and we received a check.. but 6 others just did not show and we have not received even a phone call.. thats just rude..

DITTO!! I was going to say the same thing! the nerve of people I tell you! 9 people did not show up at the last minute and 4 cancelled the week of.

we had 10 people cancel the week of and one no show. The 10 that cancelled all sent gifts and were very generous. The one no show was my old boss who BEGGED for an invite. I invited her but she did not come nor did she call. I called her up and she said she had a medical emergency. I was fine with that. She said that she got us a gift, but we have never received anything - and yesterday was our 4 month anniversary. So this is what I think .

The people who cancelled on me cancelled the NIGHT before & one said she might come and didnt! I went through so much to get to their weddings! I had to take a final early in Cortland and drive almost 8 hours to get home etc.. They live ACROSS THE STREET!! Grrrrrrrrr.

I had two couples cancel the night before because their uncle passed. We never recieved a gift or card for any of them- and I spent over $800 on their seats!

nope and we had a lot of no shows too, one couple said they were wlaking out the door to come to the wedding card in hand and their baby got sick, so they couldn't come. fine, but it is two years later, we have yet to see that card
