I am talking about people who cancelled out on your wedding right before the wedding. We had a few such cancellations. Some were earlier in the week and we did not end up paying for them, but they don't even know that.
One couple cancelled the night before the wedding by calling my MIL and sent NOTHING so far (wimp could not call us???).
An old friend of mine cancelled 4 days before the wedding by e-mail and I have not heard from him since even though I sent him an e-mail after the wedding asking if he is okay (because his excuse was a sudden out of town issue that he has to deal with). But another friend of mine saw that he's been active on match.com, so he can't be too distraught!
We didn't get gifts from these people.
Some of them are family that I'd be expected to be nice to in the future, but I have every intention of politely snubbing them, if there is such a thing!
And I keep thinking of how much I spent just to invite these people. I keep saying that I should have had a set of really cheap invites just for certain people (like maybe fill in the blanks!).
Sometimes I don't think about this at all, then sometimes I get really POed about it!!
Whenever we talk about having future family get togethers I feel like I'll only talk to the people who were there for us!

some did, and some did not. its defintely aggrivating, but not worth getting really angry about - there are always going to be people like this!

I did get gifts from some of the no shows. The ones whose excuses were actually valid were the ones who sent gifts. And the ones who I knew would send gifts did! The ones who are liars are apparently also inconsiderate and cheap.
It is funny, I had one person who showed at my wedding and did not give a gift. I am more mad at the ones who did not show and didn't send a gift. The one who showed up and gave no gift had travelled across the country and stayed in a hotel. So, he made an effort!!!!
Rumor has it that one of the last minute cancellations was because the girl (DH's cousin) found out that her dad would be there with his girlfriend and she was mad. Umm, her parents are divorced and we invited everyone with dates and there was no reason to screw us because she can't deal with her dad having someone new! And if that was such an issue, she could have sent a NO response in the beginning!!!!
PS We did fill 2 of the no show's spots by letting the best man invite his best friend and the best friend's wife. They gratiously accepted a last minute invite!!!!

No, actually the guests never called, never showed up and never sent a gift. Some people just have no manners!

In a way, I just want to see these people again soon, just to get my initial snubbing of them over with and to get some closure.

It's not as rewarding as you might imagine it to be. The part that really burned up DH and me was that the couple who we gave $300 to and they gave us $200, where the wife No-showed, started a converation with us about how she can't go anywhere now without her baby and that's why she misses a lot of functions. Geez- how bout declining then? We ended up more aggrivated than we were before we saw her

We gave a nice amount of money to friends that got married 6 weeks before us and they gave us nothing at our wedding!!!

Really? It's like on the day of your wedding she discovered that she has a kid? And then she goes and admits that you are probably not the first person she has done this to!!!
It kinda reminds of of DH's cousin who declined the wedding b/c she had to babysit-- for someone else's kids. And this is a cousin that he has done a lot for and declined my shower!
The thing that kills me is that these people that were so rude are people I should have cut from the list in the first place!

Really should of been 8 but one chick (childhood friend of DH) who called NRC,us at home, my IL's, that she was NOT coming because she broke-up with BF of 7 yrs... miraculously showed up with a Tom Cruise look-a-like... go figure.(BTW,never called she WAS coming again)
All sent gifts except for one, my childhood best-friend. He wrote back for 2..called me 2 days prior that he was coming Friday (so I could put him down for RD too)..that morning called me with a shady excuse about his dad 'not feeling well'. No card,No gift & has the balls to act like nothing happened,still calls regularly (lives OOT).. heres the catch *** HE WAS A SELF-MADE MILLIONAIRE by the time we were 25!! I KNOW $$$ is no object to him..he has lavished me with gifts all my life,never missed a B'Day or Christmas.. why now?

A GOOD friend of mine got delayed on a plane because of a hurricane and didn't make it the wedding. Obviously I am not the least bit mad. He couldn't control that BUT.... I never got a card or gift!!!! And his roomate came to the the wedding, so I sent him a thank you and not one to the other friend and he didn't get the hint!!
I know the situation was out of your control but we still paid for a plate for you and your girlfriend!!!

I'm POSITIVE thats NOT the case... don't get me wrong, I love the guy & I know he loves me too as a sister..my DH who portrays a 'macho-guy' image gets a kick out of our relationship. He calls us Will & Grace See why he's no threat?
He keeps saying he's coming to see us soon. Its not the $$ just that he blew off the whole wedding..ya know,maybe his feelings were hurt- he thought he was gonna be the MOH but I chose my best female friend instead because thats just tooooo progressive for our 'off the boat' families.
