I know most of us have fantastic days but was it the dream you had as a little girl when you walked around in your white nightgown with a lace doily on your head?
I know mine changed from when I was a kid. I wanted the princess Cinderella wedding with huge ball skirt and tons of people in a magic garden somewhere.
Thn DH and I wanted a beach/garden destination wedding but we ened up with what we ahd which was great. Realistically, we had a great day and kept to budget which we wanted to do and are happily married.
BUT if we had oooodles of money and could have been crazy extravagent... Definetly would have been like a Bronx Botanical Gardens wedding with the ceremony and pictures outside and then the reception inside their conservatory. No glass slippers but definetly a more traditional ball gown (I bought my dress with a destinationw edding in mind) and lace and flower appliques on it to match the garden theme. Everythign would have been garden theme secentered. Still colorful but definetly more lavish.
Anyone else?

Re: Did you have your dream wedding?
Hmmm... Tricky question. When I was little I never really thought about my wedding. I never had a vision of a kind of dress I wanted to wear and I never had a picture perfect hall in mind. It wasn't until DH and I got engaged that I really started thinking about what I wanted. DH and I had very different ideas about how and where we wanted out wedding to take place. Since it was important to me that DH's taste be displayed we had a lot of compromising to do. I have to say looking back although we did have a great time, there are a lot of things I would have changed.

Mine was more than I ever dreamed it would be! That is not to say that if I could go back I wouldn't change anything, but I was able to get almost everything I wanted or thought I wanted. I am really lucky! I loved my wedding, but I wish I could do it one more time to iron out the kinks! Is that really bad?!?!

Re: Did you have your dream wedding?
when i was little i obsessed over any wedding really - i was actually just talking about how i had a whole Barbie Bridal party that come complete with Bride, groom, BM, MOH, BM, GM, FG and RB - it also had a little chapel that converted into a reception lol - yeah i was a weird little kid
anyway....i had always wanted my wedding at Russo's - it is in my neighborhood and every time we passed it, I would tell my mom 'When I get married - it's going to be here!'
The day of my wedding was better than I could have ever imagined! Every detail that you worry about, went sooooooo smoothly! Of course there were two little mishaps (because nothing is ever perfect) but even that was taken care of and it didn't ruin my dream wedding - everything from teh hall, to my dress, the BM dress, the flowers, cake and of course, my groom was wonderful! it really was the wedding of my dreams

Re: Did you have your dream wedding?
I definately had my dream wedding! In the end it was more than I could have asked for. It was so amazing to me how everything came together, after all that stress and worrying! However....I would do it 10 more times with 10 different themes, 10 different dresses.....ect...(especially seeing all of the 07' LIW girls pics and gorgous weddings, ideas, dresses, brides) I just wouldn't wanna be the one to plan it.

I did have my dream wedding...since i can remember i wanted a tent wedding in the Hamptons...i used to joke it would be a keg party with beer & hotdogs (had i gone with that I could've had it at Boardy Barn!)...but it really was exactly what i wanted...food...location...etc!
I laugh when i watch Platinum Weddings or shows like that...cause even if i had their budgets there's really nothing i can think of having done different. But then again i've never been about designers, brand names, or fancy things....haha...i am more of a Target girl!

Re: Did you have your dream wedding?
mine was totally was more then i ever dreamed it would be. everything was better then i thought we would be able to afford, and it was like a dream come true to have it at such a beautiful place. we put so much effort into finding the right place, and for like 6 months nothing ever felt right... but when we went to WM and were walking around the gardens, I just started crying cause it was exactly what we wanted... and then everything else fell into place and turned out to be more then we thought we could have.

Re: Did you have your dream wedding?
As a little girl, I wanted the big movie wedding but I as got older my dream changed. DH & I did have the wedding that we dreamed of. We planned everything together and he was a huge part of the planning process. The only thing that I would have changed is I would have liked it if my parents were there, but I know deep inside that they were with me, because they are in my heart.

Re: Did you have your dream wedding?
When I was a little girl...I never dreamed of having a fairytale wedding...for that matter I never wanted to get married..I wanted to be a lawyer and live in manhattan....LOL...
When my husband proposed to me....I told him I wanted to go to Las Vegas and get married in a chapel...the one with Elvis Presley...LOL...and we were going to do it...but everyone that we wanted to be there...started backing out...and I then decided we should do the wedding in New York. We didn't have much time to plan for a wedding..since we originally were going to Las Vegas..so basically I booked a hall I wasn't crazy about.....and other vendors ...I did the best I could....I didn't know about this website until after my wedding...I wish I had known about this site when I was planning my wedding...
So to answer the question if I had my dream wedding? No, I didn't....and the funny thing is that I didn't even realize this...until after I started going on this site...

Re: Did you have your dream wedding?
honestly.....i never had a dream of a wedding when i was little girl---or even as a teenager. i was such a tomboy!!
i remember coming back from my first year of college and telling my mom that marriage was stupid and that i didn't need to be part of an 'institution' -- and i don't need a piece of paper!! i'm never gonna get married---and oh yeah i won't have a baby either...cause the world is overpopulated and i planned on adopting a baby from like zimbabwe!!! angelina jolie totally stole my idea...that b*tch!!
it wasn't until later on that i starting realizing i did want to get married. so i really didn't think i would even HAVE a wedding...so what i did have ended up being my dream wedding!

Re: Did you have your dream wedding?
I also wanted the princess wedding when I was very little.....
as an adult, I didn't think of it much, but I did have a general vision of a 'victorian hometown' wedding that was down to earth yet classy. I think we pulled it off!

Re: Did you have your dream wedding?
I never really daydreamed about weddings when I was a kid - I actually used to make fun of my friends who did (I know, I'm so nice lol). The joke was always that they had their whole wedding planned, down to the last guest, except for the groom!
Once I met and started DH what I daydreamed about was BEING married to him - you know, coming home to the same house, eating dinner together, going on vacation, spending our lives together. I saw this as a very good sign. The wedding planning itself happened much later. DH and I had very similar taste so it all came together and we were both really happy with the results!

Re: Did you have your dream wedding?
Hmmm, good question. I don't remember what I had in mind when I was a little girl - I don't remember daydreaming about my wedding day per say, more about who I would marry, etc.
I loved our wedding and everything about it. We had only one issue with one of our vendors so I'd say the day went really well. I LOVED my gown, the RH was more than I could have imagined, etc. I think that if we had MONEY and didn't have to save so hard to have our wedding, I may have done some things differently (and I definitely would have had the photobooth, the only thing that I wanted for the wedding but didn't get - but now at least I'll have it for TWOTY), but I still had my dream wedding. My entire family was there and people who had years worth of issues with each other made up and we actually all spent New Year's together! Doesn't get much better than that!!
So yeah, I think I did have my dream wedding. But I like so many different things, I could have had my dream wedding even if I did change some things - that's why I'm happy about TWOTY - I get to do some things differently, even though I loved everything about my wedding ... makes sense?

Re: Did you have your dream wedding?
well I definitely never 'dreamed' of my wedding as a kid, or even as an adult! so I never had expectations to meet.
but from the beginning stages to now seeing photo & video- it absolutely 100% was! Loved every minute of it and seeing the video really took us back and showed each and every little thing we missed. and thats when I realized that we truly did have the perfect beginning of our new life together

Re: Did you have your dream wedding?
I don't post too often, but I just love this topic because I feel like it's something I've been talking about for 2 years now!
I have to preface by saying I had the best time at my wedding. I absolutely HATED planning the wedding, but the day made it worth it. I didn't 'believe' in marriage until I was around 24, so I didn't have a dream wedding when I was young. My situation seems a lot like PeteysBride's. I wanted a destination wedding ... but my dad is afraid to fly. I wanted small (under 75) wedding ... FMIL had to invite every social contact she's ever had (invite list OVER 230!!! And that's after I cut her off!). I wanted beach/park ... kind of tough to do with 230 invites, so that didn't happen! I made A LOT of compromises, but at the end of the day it was worth it.
I know it sounds like I'm complaining, but I'm not. I had the time of my life. Almost everyone I cared about was there, I didn't care about the things that went wrong, I had SO MUCH fun. I loved my hall, the food was amazing, everyone was dancing, drinking having a blast. But was it my dream wedding ... not even close. DH and I joke that when we renew our vows we're going to have our original dream wedding, but I'm not disappointed with the one I had.

Re: Did you have your dream wedding?
i dont remember thinking about weddings when I was a kid actually. altho...maybe im just not remembering clearly bc take a look at this... (that was my shower invite)
but i have to say, all in all, i got the wedding of my dreams!!! the location, the people (minus my dad , but i know he was there in spirit), the dress, etc...i knew from the start that i wanted a smaller, intimate wedding that was less formal and i got that. luckily, planning came pretty darn easy for me and i was so surprised. my RH was the first and only place i looked at (i knew it would be the one before i even visited..bc it was exactly what we were looking for)...same for my dress, and basically all of my other vendors. it was a big blessing.
i think it would have been really great to marry on the beach, but with my mobility issues, walking on the sand is not very easy so it was okay that we had to change that. we were overlooking the water so that was perfect. and then, maybe just some more bride portraits, family portraits and pics of DH and I would be nice. but i def forgot certain pics I wanted and also we didnt have the time, let alone the energy.
needless to say, i got all the impt stuff...an amazing husband, a beautiful Christ-centered ceremony, loved ones, and a fun celebration!!!!
