I'm moving at work down the hall, so my 2 attorneys and the other 2 attorneys in my section (who I used to work for) were all told that they have to pack up their own offices because they are not paying for any extra help (typical, huh). And they were also told that they have to help me, since I'm pregnant and am not lifting a finger.
Well, my ex-boss REFUSES to pack for himself -- hey, why should he? When we moved from our other building to this one, I HAD TO PACK HIS OFFICE UP!!!! He is so friggin arrogant and I guess this is beneath him, but obviously not me!! So he was sitting in there all morning pouting because he has to do it himself -- GROW UP, while everyone else is packing up around him. Meantime, not one of these guys came over to me and helped me! The office manager (a woman in her 60s) and the paralegal I work for (an itty bitty thing) did it all!!!
WHERE ARE THE MEN?????? HOW THE HECK DID THEY MAKE IT THROUGH LAW SCHOOL???? I'm telling ya, they are the laziest things and think that everybody owes them something. Let me tell you what they are owed -- A WAKE UP TO REALITY CALL!!!!!
My ex-boss seems to think that if he doesn't come in tomorrow, when the move will take place, that it will all be done for him on Monday. Newsflash buddy, NOTHING will be done for you!!!
I just had to vent because it was ******* me off all day!!! When I told him that he was supposed to help me, he ignored me. Typical -- just like he ignored me for every single Secretaries Day I worked for him. Well pffffffttt to you, you big jerk!

Re: Do you believe this?
talk about pompous!!!! These men are so used to having everything done for them that they are INCAPABLE of doing anything themselves!! This is what money does to you. It's disgusting! And its not like you're 3 weeks pregnant & NOT SHOWING! I'd love to hear what happened today, when they came in an they weren't packed or anything.
to you!

Re: Do you believe this?
This was my first administrative assistants day in the firm I work for and I bought flowers for the two paralegals that work most of my cases and chocolates for the three paralegals who I work with, certainly on a weekly basis.
Well, I was the ONLY attorney who got anything for anyone. I was shocked There are ten attorneys and about thirty people on our support staff. They get lunch, but that is not the same as a person, Thank You! I could not get through a day without these people. I have so much going on that without them my practice would fall apart.
Deb, I promise never to turn into one of THOSE attorneys.

Re: Do you believe this?
OMG! When my office moved in January I heard the same crap...and yes, I work for attorneys! This one pathetic little weasel could not even bring himself to do an inventory of the files in his file cabinet and made me do it! He said that the reason he didn't want to was because he gets dizzy spells.
I looked at him and said 'so do I. In fact, I'm having one right now!'
He said 'oh.' Jerk!
you know the old joke: what do you call 200 lawyers on the bottom of the ocean?
A good start!

Re: Do you believe this?
Becky, PLEASE don't ever become like them!!!
Last night my boss comes over to me and says about my ex-boss 'he thinks it was an insult to us that we have to pack for ourselves' and I said 'oh really? But it wasn't an INSULT to ME when I had to pack his whole office up when we moved from there to here???' What am I, the **** beneath his shoes????? They kill me. Meanwhile, he went home -- isn't that nice? He comes and goes as he pleases and I'm sitting here like a chooch with nothing on my desk but my phone, my fan and my computer -- thank God for that one, huh??
I have all my lifelines!!!
Have a GREAT weekend everybody and thanks for listening!!!!!

Re: Do you believe this?
You know sometimes I wonder if the higher up you go the dumber you get. For instance a top guy where I work was moving. He gets to his new location and is looking for his laptop? I had to hold my breathe to not ask if he was serious. I mean really they had movers but come on I think common sense would tell someone to take their laptop. Needless to say it was never found so someone was smart enough to move it home
I say all this to say I feel for you girl. I wouldn't move anything pregnant though.

Re: Do you believe this?
I say the same thing -- just because they're VP or Presidents or whatever, doesn't make them the brightest bulbs in the box!!!
And it keeps getting more comical -- my other ex-boss has been pretty much MIA all day and now the movers come over to me to ask where he is because they need to move his office next and there's STUFF ALL OVER HIS DESK!!! I had to bite my tongue to say 'throw it out' but I shut up!!!
IDIOTS!! I'm telling ya, I don't know how they made it through law school and as far as they got!!!
And I'm proud to say I haven't LIFTED A FINGER!!!! They can kiss my expanding butt!!!

Re: Do you believe this?
LMAO ! Thats right, you dont lift a finger !! (AHHH, the little quirks of being prego ! ) and you shouldnt have to move anything ANYWAY!
But I hate big bosses on power trips !!!
This is a tangent but. I once had a boss that was Jewish, and we had a little fridge in the office, and I put something in the fridge (IM Catholic) and he goes 'anna is that kosher?' and I whispered to this other boss 'whats that ????' (This was years ago, LOL) and he told me only kosher items can go in the fridge.. No offense to anyone thats Jewish but i flat out ignored him and continued to use the fridge. How rude is that ?????

I HATE people on power trips. I don't understand why fiancial success should = becoming a jerk. In my office (technology, not law firm) I was the only person who got anything for our admin and the CEO also got her a huge flower basket but NONE of the other employees even got her a card. I told one of the guys 'You guys are jerks. She does a lot for you and you cannot even chip in $2 each for a box of candy' and walked away. And these people are NOT powerful either, just regular everyday employees not giving a $hit.

Re: Do you believe this?
anna - I have to say I think it was rude to use the fridge without first finding out about the meaning of the word kosher is, and asking for some sort of compromise. What you did is the equivalent of someone secretly giving you meat to eat on a Friday night after you told them you keep Lent. You should at least have notified the person that keeps kosher that the fridge was no longer available for his use. I'm sure you didn't realize how serious this is to some people, but I thought you should know... sorry if this came across as mean.

Re: Do you believe this?
Valenia, you have to know the person that did this No offense again to anyone, but being religious is a joke to him. He only keeps kosher when its convenient for him. I did find out the meaning of the word, and had to laugh after I saw the things that HE HIMSELF put in the fridge (junk food, cakes and snacks that vendors broughtover), I said 'give me a break' and put my drink in the fridge. He even chuckled as i did it. I guess 'you had to be there' is the best way to explain this one. He's a far cry from being religious.... I can go into details that will FLOOR everyone, but a man is a man is a man, we've all heard stories before..
I guess I should have explained the story further Him saying 'I keep my fridge kosher' is like him saying 'I Love my wife' and then the Waldorf calls minutes later saying he left his watch there last night, right after a girl calls and says 'Im Nicole, the blonde he was with yesterday' (I almost died, LOL) OK im rambling now...

Re: Do you believe this?
No problema, I totally understand how meaningful it is to many many people. My MIL's family is Jewish I totally respect all the cultures and religions in the world..but I hate when people 'throw it around' to make someone else feel out of place ! He wouldnt acknowledge Good Friday and give me the day off !
No offense taken

Re: Do you believe this?
Natasha, I'm still trying to dig out from the boxes, but I just wanted to let you know real quick, that those chooches (and I'm being nice ) didn't do a blessed thing, except for my boss -- he did all his own packing and unpacking!!!! Not one of them offered to help me unpack today and my other boss had the nerve to tell me that his outbox is overflowing!!!!
Well not for nothing but, my desk is friggin overflowing with crap all over it and his outbox is the last thing on my mind! And then there's a meeting going on in the conference room by me and some guy comes over and asks me for a pen --HELLO, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE MY PENS ARE!!!! These guys are a bunch of a-holes!!!!!
