Do you feel guilty spending money now that your finances are shared? UPDATED!

I want a new pair of UGGs and in the past i would have just bought them if I really wanted them, but I feel guilty to do it now that we're married and our finances are shared.... and since we track everything in Quicken

I rarely spend money on anything but gas and groceries but I cant help feel guilty.

Hopefully this will pass?

TOTALLY!!!! I hate it! I used to go shopping whenever I felt like it and dig myself a little deeper into financial hell but I feel bad brining my hubby with me!

I feel guilty. I want a pair of tall black uggs. I tried to buy them last year with Christmas money but I couldn't find them anyway. He said I could buy them now but I'll wait until after Christmas because we're trying to save for a house.

I've always felt guilty even when I was single. I beat myself up getting drugstore pantyhose. Seriously, I should get some therapy for that.

no not really... if its stupid small stuff - like last night i had to buy a new strapless bra - i just go ahead and buy it and tell DH after i do... but if its something major then i talk to him about it before i buy it to let him know i'm spending a lot of money

No but only because DH is the worst with money. He buys breakfast/lunch every day, buys stupid weapons, smokes a pack a day and spends money on things i cant even talk about here!!! so if i want to get something I do.

That being said, I have always been frugal so I never really spend money.

My hubby spends lots of money on marijuana so I dont feel bad

At first....yes I did. We joined accounts about 6 months before we were married but now........... He is forever yelling at me but hey, HE MARRIED ME! hehehehe

for now DH and I are doing the yours, mine, ours technique (they had it in the nest lol) We have joint accounts which we put all the money for the house, grocery cars cell phones dinners out together things like that...but then we both have a small separate account that we can use to buy things for ourselves or eachother...like for christmas I can buy his stuff w/ out him seeing it on the card....and this way if i have extra $$ i can buy what i want Seems to be working so far

I just feel guilty because DH comments on everything I spend. Not because we are splitting everything but because we are saving for a house. I actually dont buy anything ever because I feel guilty spending unnecessary money

less than 24 hours later the UGGs are sitting in the middle of my living room! (yay free shipping + a free shipping upgrade!)

DH said he'll let me know if my shopping gets out of control, but I also had a nice chunk of my own savings and we're pretty good with finances so hopefully the guilty feeling will pass soon

Zappos! I considered ebay, but they didnt seem to be that much cheaper so I just went ahead with Zappos (where I ordered my first pair of UGGs a few years ago). They only had 3 pairs of black classic tall in my size, so I'm glad I was able to find one -- they sell out every season. I wanted a pair last year but refused to pay more than retail for them.

I do have a pair of classic tall from ebay (I couldn't resist, they were my sorority colors, brand new, and I had never seen that color in the stores) and while I love the tall, I find that the chestnut color is more versatile than 'wine and silver blue'

Nope, not at all. DH and I both work, so we are both entitled to buy what we like. I bought TWO pairs of Uggs last weekend lol Don't feel bad about buying one..you deserve them!

i don't feel guilty. DH spends more money than I do and I make more than he does. So if I want or need something, I'll buy it as long as the bills are paid.

Yes - I do feel guilty about buying things. Everytime I buy something dh says how much was it?! Ugh its so annoying. We have a joint credit card we put all purchases on so he will eventually see the bill but how annoying is it that everytime I buy a bra he says $45 on a bra! Ughh I need some help! We pay all our bills and save a big chuck of change every month so why the questions everytime...its getting old now!
