I used to get my old boss a gift. This year since I just started this job I'm going to bring in homemade cookies/choc. covered pretzels for my boss and her secretaries.

I always buy my boss something, she is awesome! As far as our co-workers, we are a department of 18 and do a secret Santa with a minimum/limit of $25.00. That never works though lol I bought my secret Santa stuff that totalled $40.00! It's hard to spend only $25!

I used to because my boss was my assistant principal (he's now our principal) but this year I can't do it even though I want to. I feel funny buying for him and not the other principals so I won't buy for any...if that makes sense.
When I did buy it was a bottle of wine or once I chipped in with another teacher and we bought him a wireless mouse...so like $20.

No. I work with ONLY my boss -- we get along really great, but it's kinda weird - being that it's just us in the office, I would feel strange.

He told me last year he had something for me and never brought it in -- kept saying, 'Oh, I keep forgetting your gift.' Then, before I left for the HM, he said, 'Oh, I have something for you, I keep leaving it at home, my wife keeps yelling at me, I'll leave it on your desk while you are gone.' Think I ever got either??? I don't expect anything from him, but it's one of my biggest pet peeves when someone SAYS they have a gift for you, be it Christmas, wedding, birthday - and it never materializes. Why lie?? If you have it, bring it in, no matter how late. If you don't and you have no intentions of getting me, DON'T GET MY HOPES UP AND SAY YOU HAVE SOMETHING!!!!

me too. my boss is such a complete A$$. You wanna know what our gift has been the last 2 yrs? a Luggage tag - that he got FREE from corporate. He is also allocating a whopping $50 for our holiday luncheon - $50 for 16 people in my office. It doesnt get any more pathetic than that. What will we have? A peanut butter n jelly lunch spread? I'd rather not have anything. So no, he is not getting a gift. His gift is all of his employees hard work all year long. We make him look good...... (can you tell I am disgusted by him... )
