yearly? I haven't had my yearly in like 2 years. And before that I never used to go reguarly. I went for an exam like 2 times. I found a new doctor since I didn't like my old one and I have an appointment tonight. I hate, hate going to the gyno. How bad is it if I cancel and just wait to go back to the obgyn when I get pregnant..

I think I go 2x a year because I am on BCP, but only get the pap 1x a year. I've been to quite a few different Drs and they all wanted me to come every 6 months and only wrote 6 months prescriptions for BCP.

This is interesting to me - I've had three OBGYNs and none of them have insisted on or even suggested to me going more than once a year. Hmm.
I will just ask my PCP what she thinks in that case!

Haha I'll probably do the same thing. Everything seems to be in good working order down there, why bother going to the doctor? I also don't go to the regular physician unless I'm sick. That evil doctor has been trying to get me to take a full physical for like 2 years now. Ain't happening!

yeah i go every year...
i dont think anyone will tell you they like the gyno!! lol but really the whole thing takes only a few mins, so i feel i just get it over with its over and i dont have to think about it again for a whole year!

Me either..I'm sad to say. I honestly don't go to doctors, unless I'm sick. Except for the dentist, but then again I went I won't even say how long, bc I will scare everyone how long I went without going to one, unitl I found my current guy who is great.
UPDATE: I took all you girls advice and went.
The doctor is such a sweetheart and made me feel totally comfortable. She talked to me during the entire visit, my appt was right on time and she is really friendly. My last doctor was as cold as ice and wouldn't say boo except for hello and goodbye. Everyone I know goes to male doctors so I was on my own on finding a female one in my area.

I'm thrilled to hear that you bit the bullet and went! It's not pleasant, but if you can find a great MD then it's not so bad. It's truly the best thing you can do for yourself!

I thought about telling her no, I can only go once a year because of insurance, but I don't because of my fibroid. I don't only get my exam every 6 months (though the pap is only once a year.) I also have to go twice a year for a sonogram.
It's important to go before you try... because you don't know what could be wrong with you preventing or harming you if you are going to try to get pregnant. For me when we start trying she wants to monitor my fibroid every 3 months because if it grows or shifts to block my uterus it could make things very tough for me.

I am pretty sure NYS passed a law stating that insurance companies are required to pay for semiannual GYN check ups. You should look into it.
