now i'll answer the op correctly, yes we have a piggy bank as well. it used to be a hawaiian punch jug now it somehow turned into a vase. last time we cashed in we had close to $500, should i have thrown that away??

Clearly that would have been the thing to do. That way Kathryn would havegone through your trash so she could have made $500

I've gotta do something to afford all this tupperware!

I am also going to admit it... I pick up change on the ground.. Pennies if they are heads up and I see them first (not if someone else points it out), and any kind of silver change,... pending I wont be in anyones way, or ran over by a bike/car/stroller/group of people... etc!

My boss, who is a very wealthy man, collects pennies and has all his life, he's in his 70's now. He's picked up the grosses pennies I've ever seen, I'm talking subway floors etc. Anyway he puts all the pennies in a bank account has over $50k in it now.

i save my change in a little bank, DH spends his change. i try to get him to contribute, but he gets a kick out of going to 7 eleven and paying in all change.

in my little bank i only put the 'silver' change in it and usually get about $125 every six months. i keep my pennies in a separate container and cash that in w/ the silver when it's full. we don't believe in throwing away any kind of $$ in our house.

i dont save change
i either spend it or throw it out, mostly pennies though
usually i give it away to a relative that needs it for the washing machine

Are you kidding? You throw out money? That seems insane to me. Your joking I assume.

the best was when we would leave from mineola, he always buys the paper and OJ, comes to like $2, and he would pay in nickles, dimes and pennies, just drop the change on the counter, and walk out. yeah, that's my DH. and he would be so proud of himself too.

My sister and I used to roll up all the pennies and by snack and candy. We would just drop rolls of pennies on the counter. The guy would look all annoyed. Hey money is money

DH has always done the piggy bank thing. He uses one of these things to collect his change..

As for me....I get great joy from using every last cent from my change purse. Bonus if I get to the cashier and have just exactly the right amount left in there to buy something.

We dont use cash alot so we never have that much change....plus we always leave quarters in the car for parking when we go to Hoboken.

HOWEVER...we do have a change jar, I call it the vacation fund, I dont think there is much in there but I plan on cashing it in when we leave for our anniversary trip and use the $$ towards massages or something!
