My whole family are in the medical business...mom is a nurse, dad is a doctor, uncle & aunt is a nurse...except for me - i guess welcome to my family's business

Aww...this is sweet...I know the gastro thing...my DH has this problem that I can basically call regurgitation. This is kinda gross, but he actually can choke up an entire piece of food. It is kinda like what a cow does. I know it got better when we switched to a low carb diet, which we are still are on. However, it is starting to happen again. What do you think? One internist suggested it was a behavioral thing and suggested xanax.

Also, are you doing endocrinology? I am so proud of you!

Interesting.... and slightly confusing
Has he ever had an endoscopy? There is a condition where there's an outpouching of the esophagus where food falls into and then comes back up when a person belches... that might be it.
Other than that I really dont know. It could be b/c he's not chewing his food thoroughly, he's eating big chunks of food, he's eating the wrong kind of food that he can't digest.... I'm sure his doctors have run all sorts of tests - has anything come back as abnormal???

Not specializing in anything just yet. I'm starting my internal medicine residency in july and will see what fellowship i want in 3 years

I've been getting migraines for 10 years & I even take imitrex for them.. & recently we discovered that they go away after sex & I don't even take an imitrex beforehand... you should go get your DH & try it!

i have ibs-d...i've tried all the meds out there & NOTHING works....it really stinks....

i live most of my life on Immodium....that's the only way I can eat.

I don't lose an ounce of weight no matter what - so the doc is going to look into kick starting my metabolism - because i starve myself a LOT....if i have a meeting or something - i can't eat...

it stinks.

Dear Dr. Ev,

Um, I have chronic constipation Zelnorm was the only thing that helped but they pulled it off the market. Any other suggestions?? And don't say fiber & exercise b/c that doesn't work for me.

you feel like you're peeing yourself or do you actually pee a little?
If you just feel it - then it's probably the menstruation that you're feeling...

ok to keep it interesting, i thought I had started to bleed thru a tampon, so i went running into the bathroom, I was wearing white panties...confused b/c there was no stain I smelled it
Didnt smell like anything to be honest...but it was wet but it wasnt alot
