This has been happening for years and it forever urks me. WHERE THE HECK DO THEY GO? I swear the sock monster eats them. Its like every time I do whites and wash all my gym and running socks, at least one goes missing. It is so irritating!

at the sock monster- but I agree something happens to them.
sometimes i put socks in one wash and they show up in the wash after that weird lol

oh yes
I was just complaining about this the other day. I always put my pairs IN the washer together but they never ever make it out! W T F
I have a drawer full of singles with no partners lol

Actually, they do get eaten by the drain. MILs drain got clogged once because of this!

Oh and one time I did find one in with the sheets but the last few times they have no surfaced yet! ARGH!

Ha, I remember another time there was a thread about this. It's so true! I've been meaning to go through my sock drawer and reorganize it to see how many I'm actually missing. It cracks me up, I forgot who just said, they go in the wash together but come out in separate loads. Maybe one sticks to the top of the dryer??

Do you know what my MIL does...she puts a safety pin on each pair before she washes if there arent two to match then she throws it away....great idea but I dont have the energy

I know, really. I just put it aside until I find the match. MY DH is even worse with his socks.

we don't have a washer/dryer so we drop it off and have it done. I'm actually impressed that they don't ever lose anything, especially socks. Although i feel bad for the woman who has to handle dh's crusty work socks! What am i laughing at, someday that will be me!

OMG...this always happens...I'm like *** where did the sock go. I always have like a few socks that are missing their pair. I can't figure it out!
I know our washing machine eats them for a fact. I've seen them end up out in our yard in the dry well. Now I through all of our socks in sock bag, much easier to pair up that way too.

YES!!! the sock monster takes them. I often end up w/ random socks of my mom's in my laundry basket so I should go and ransack her sock drawer for my sock's mates!
