We finally recorded our VM message for home yesterday and DH made me do it and its sooo weird to hear myself. I never feel my voice as other people must hear it, sounds anything like what it does to my own ears.
In my own head it sound a little deeper, more confident but anytime its recorded or heard through a microphone, its much softer, girlish and kinda I don't know-annoyingly mellow and at times tinny? Like I should be waving pom poms around or something
So I don't feel my voice matches up with me. And some of the people I've met in my life, when I hear their voices I grin because they didnt sound like what I expected them to.
Anyone else?

I have been told that my voice mail on my cellphone used to sounds like a 1 (900) # and I don't think that I sound like that.

I totally agree i feel I either sound like a phone sex operator or a little kid. UUGHHH

I'm not sure if my voice matches me but I will say that I think I sound so different when I hear my voice (like on video or answering machine) ... sounds so different to me when I speak!

I actually hate hearing my recorded voice, since it sounds so different than in my head!! On recordings I sound like I'm 16 and my NY accent is a little more noticeable than I would prefer!

i hate hearing my recorded voice as well...sounds diff than I think I sound.

I dono I think maybe they could match up - but I do NOT like my voice recorded - it sounds better in my head than when it plays back.

i think mine matches up but have been told that i don't look like i'd have the voice I have. I can be very nasally and have a strong LI/NY accent (think fran drescher)... I always get people asking me to say Water or Coffee, etc. Even when I'm in LI!! Now that I'm in Boston I get questioned all the time. I've learned to love my voice - -it's distinct and people know it's me off the bat.
