875 square feet could be compared to a small studio apartment, it is on the smaller side.

That is pretty small for upstate. Is it a one bedroom or two?

Really? I'm surprised because we were looking at apartments and a junior 4 (meaning a 1 bedroom with a separate dining room type thing, right?) were in the 850-900 square foot range and they were a nice size. For a 1 bedroom I thought they were big. For a 2 bedroom I'd say they were ok, for a studio they'd have to be very large because as a junior 4 I thought they were a nice size.

i agree; my old studio in manhattan was around 400 sq feet and a decent size; my 2 br now is HUGE (IMO) and is about 1,036. so I think 875 is more of a one bedroom size, a little small for a 2 br.

If it helps, my apartment in the city was about 300 square feet, which basically consisted of one room that was about 12' by 25'.

Thats true i see what you ladies mean, our old condo was 980 sq. feet and we had 2 bedrooms but they were so tiny...sometimes i felt as if we lived in a studio lol. So i think that 800-900 sq. feet would be a nice size one bedroom, for 2 it would be tight.

my dads one bedroom apt is about 800 sq feet, its a good size for him. The bedroom is pretty big, the kitchen is an ok size, living room is also decent size, and bathroom is like an average sized bathroom. He doesn't have a dining room thats the only difference.
For a 1 bedroom it usually is under 900sq ft, i would say usually between 700-850sq ft. But you said the apartment was a duplex apartment, so might be a little small then. If you have 2 floors that equal a little over 800 then the downstairs might be very small. WE saw a couple of duplex apartments and even though it had 2 floors, some were just real small downstairs. Most had a very tiny kitchen too.

The apartment me and fh are getting ready to rent is 1000 sq feet and its a one bedroom. BUT we're renting it out of a house and the house is 4500 sq feet so obvously thats why our apartment is big. So comparing size wise-i think that the apartment youre looking at is probably a good size since we think ours is HUGE

I think it's a very nice-sized 1 BR if one person is living in it, but it'll get tighter for two people. A factor is also how large the rooms themselves are--BR vs. kitchen vs. common area.

Our 1 bedroom apartment is about 875 square feet and it's conisdered a 1 bedroom deluxe (bigger one bedroom than others in our complex). We think it's a very decent size for now!
