Every winter My nose bleeds. Iam not talking about a pouring nose bleed, Just when I blow my nose or if i stick a tissue up in there, there is blood on it. I think its from all the dry heat. And we have been using the fireplace alot, so it could be that too.. Anyone else have this problem? Is there anything I can do to help it?

I don't get them, but I found this online:
Thus, nosebleeds occur more frequently in the winter when viruses are common and heated indoor air dries out the nostrils. A deviated septum, foreign object in the nose, or other nasal blockage can also cause a nosebleed.
The nostrils are very sensitive, so if you were to maybe have a dry nostril and say you pick it, it can that little bit of blood that you see in the tissue, or w/e. HTH!

If you would stop picking your nose, it would stop bleeding

lol@ vaseline haha
What is wrong with a humidifier??? I didn't think they were old ladyish haha It helps!!! You need to keep your nostrils moistttttt.
Drinking lots of water also helps in aiding in keeping things like your nasal cavities moist........sorry if the word moist makes anyone uncomfortable. =P

Re: Does anyone elses nose bleed in the winter??
i get bad nose bleeds... one time DH actually took me to teh hospital b/c my nose was bleeding for like 1 hour straight.... it was HORRIBLE!!! I was so scared that i was going to get a nose bleed the day of my wedding. It happens to me whenever i go from cold to hot or vise versa
so far **knock on wood** i have been lucky and not had one, but i def. now my body, so it is only a matter of time that i get one!
Tilde.... DH actually said to me that if we find a nice humidifier he would considering buying one b/c he too wakes up to a dry nose!

Re: Does anyone elses nose bleed in the winter??
Yep. combination dry heat/cold air.
I use a humidifier at home, and put bowls of water on my radiators. I also have a lot of plants at home so the humidifier helps keep them from drying out. I must be old then, I also have a personal sized humidifier on my desk at work. It gets so dry in here that my eyes are pereptually red and my nose stuffs up unless I use it
Edited for spelling. too lazy to fill the humidifier today.

Re: Does anyone elses nose bleed in the winter??
I just had TWO yesterday I read somewhere that while you are holding the tissue in your nose, use your other hand to put pressure on the gum area in the front of your mouth and it will help stop the bleeding. I tried it yesterday and it worked....weird but hey, if it works....
