I'm so dumb! I wasn't paying attention when I was cooking dinner tonight and I went to take the meat thermometer out of the chicken that was right from the oven without an oven mit! As soon as I touched it I heard my skin sizzle! So now my finger is throbbing and I'm wondering if there is anything I can put on it to make it feel better. Please help! TIA!

I am usually always burning myself I run really cold water on it for a couple of min. then i put ice in a ziplock bag with a little water in it and put my hand in it when it starts throbbing and keep it in for 1 min hope you get better
eta: I guess ice directly on it isnt a good idea lol i didnt even know that. Sorry

cool water. Don't put ice directly on it because it will actually 'burn' it more with the ice!!!
Afteward use a good antibacterial cream. I like neosporin with the pain relief! I burn myself like once a week so I'm a pro at this!

Johnson & Johnson has a really GREAT burn cream.
If I cant get my hands on that I just soak it with bacitracin & put a bandaid on it.. Then I just use an icepack to take the throbbing away.

just a cold pack (not too icy, you don't want to get frost bite on top of that!)
then dry it off and cover it with something sterile. don't put stuff on it....

I like a product called Second Skin ( moist burn pads). Its in a blue box its great for burns LOVE the stuff

I lOOVE second skin for blisters!!! You have to becareful using it right away with burns because the burn will suck all of the moisture out of the pad really fast and it can get 'stuck' on the burn. It is great to use next day after the burn has 'cooled' some. It's soooo soothing!!!

Crap whats that stuff called..usually you need a RX for it but its GREAT for burns..silvadene? We have a doc family friend so I keep a jar at home all the time. The best stuff for bad burns.

According to my DH:
Use *cool* water, not *cold* water ... to slowly bring the temperature back to normal.
Use Aloe Lotion on the sore area.

Run it under cold water-then use neoporin + pain, it will heal with no scar and it wont feel funny
