you can get these a fediff ways

not wiping properly is #1 and not peeing after 'the deed' is #2

drink cranberry ( with no high fructose corn syrup )
take cranberry pills, and take uristat..will DEF be gone in less than 4 days without Antibiotics

i am prone to them and thats what i do everytime

Hey girls!!!Thank you alll!!! and a special shoutout to everyone's fave MIL debismom (who was a nurse!) for some ridiculously helpful info!!!

And man to you who deal with this as a chronic condition.

So I'm hydrating, I've got the Uristats, I'm avoiding bladder irritants, so I should be feeling GREAT. Anytime now...


Oh and I'm also told that PREGNANCY can be a factor too, which must explain it, cause this is my FIRST one!!!

Hey Colette!! sorry I'm way late on responding here, but......yes cranberry juice definitely helps!! I've had chronic UTI's since I'm a teenager, I've actually been sent for 2 kidney sonograms b/c I've had so many! One was when I was 19, and another like 4 yrs ago....luckily nothing major wrong.

I've also heard that UTI's are common in pregnancy which might just set me back even longer before I have kids

some tips for UTI issues:

1) wear cotton undies
2) drink tons of water, cranberry juice & OJ even helps (b/c of the acidity)
3) take Uristat (if you can while prego)
4) make sure to pee before & after sex

when I used to get them like every 3 months or so I was taking cranberry pills from GNC everyday!!

feel better!!! I know how horrible they are!! so I hope it clears up for you soon!

if you think you are getting one - go to CVS & buy Uristat pills in the ladies' aisle. 100% better than cranberry juice IMO

I 2nd Uristat pills.. they will make your pee orange, but you won't feel that full sensation in your bladder and that pain when you pee.. If it doesn't go away in a couple of days though, I would see a doctor!! Feel Better!!!

I just got over this two weeks ago...mine was more of a kidney infection...I had a fever as well. Do NOT take baths!!! I think this is what made mine worse.Drink lots of fluids...get the cran juice with the highest amount of cran juice in it as possible. If you are really sick see a doctor for a presciption

Cranberry works but you still need to get antibiotics. For temporary relief you can take over the counter medicine such as AZO and Uristat. Be prepared to see a really nasty color (yellow/orangy) when you pee after taking this medicine.

Call your GYN, they can prescribe you an antibiotic w/out seeing them. Feel better!!
