It is the same with us..he is loving..just not that romantic. I don't think anything has really changed.

Re: Does the romance die?
you can if you let it, it requires attention, watering, etc, just like a plant, if you don't it will wither and fade and die. As married people we can get so comfortable and forget the niceties that we used to do before and let it all slip. It doesn't happen all at once, so stay aware at all times. Don't stop dating, keep it fresh, keep it new, keep it exciting. The little things count.

i don't think it is less or more romantic, it's different. Before you thought romantice is when he gives you flowers for no reason, and is still is romantic!
BUT now when you come home from the gym and the dishes are done and the kitchen is sparkling clean, you think it romantic as hell! Believe me!

I think it changes over the years. I dont think its possible to maintain that incredibly heady worldwind infatuation you feel during the first 2 or 3 years. In years 4 and 5 it matures and turns into something else. Years 6 and 7 had a different feeling too.
As you change together, your relationship and how you interact is bound to change. BUt that doesnt mean its any less romantic..its just different.

Re: Does the romance die?
See, I disagree. Cleaning is really nice, especially when it's a surprise, but IMO it's a far cry from romance. I know it takes a lot fo work to keep it up, but it definitely does die out!! My DH doesn't do the things he used to when we were dating, but I'm OK with it most of the time. Just the natural progression of the relationship. But for special occasions, I would like him to be more romantic and/or thoughtful... I guess I just disappoint easily!!

Re: Does the romance die?
My Dh will do romantic things randomly. He's always been like that and its the element of surprise that keeps it lively. I think that he's been more romantic lately as the holidays came and we are getting ready for our baby. But I am sure things will change as we go on, but he'll always have some surprise up his sleeve.

Re: Does the romance die?
Actually, it is the same. He was never overly romantic which is ok with me. I prefer the many little things he does as opposed to always being over the top.
We have a couple friend- the guy from day one would ALWAYS buy his lady flowers, because that is the only way he knew how to be romantic, now that has stopped, and now she is complaining.
I guess my point is that there are many ways of being romantic.
It only dies if you let it- you have to work at it.

Al always was and still is, very romantic. We both make a conscious effort to keep that alive. I'd even go so far to say that the romance has increased since we got married - massages, date nights, surprising each other, romantic vacations, candlelit dinners, breakfast in bed, thoughtful gestures, compliments, kisses, flowers, its all good

Lisa, I must say the little things like you stated above does make the other person feel good and want to reciprocate and it takes some doing. Like this am, Roger went to take a shower, I am on vacation and I ironed his clothes and made him breakfast, it made us both feel so good. It goes hand in hand. Keep taking care of each other and not take each other for granted.

Re: Does the romance die?
Amen to that, as nrvbrd and Shamma said, it all about little things we do for each other!
Like when I bought my beautiful but very heavy dutch oven in Bloomie's. I called him from the store all exited to let him know I bought it and am coming home!
I come out of the subway and DH is standing right there to carry it home from the subway for me! To me that was the most romantic thing ever, when I saw him standing there in the snow and wind waiting for me to come out of the train!

No we didnt live together and I think that is my main issue with the romance, its hard to be romantic when I am annoyed that the dishes arent done etc. wow I think I would keel over if he had the kitchen sparkling when I came home but I do agree flowers and being told you are beautiful are important too, I think we are all high maintenance LOL

It's about the same for me--only better. Not that the romance is better or more frequent, but it's just somehow deeper. If that makes sense....
